You can explore Proseč U Humpolce during a stay through three themes: its location in the highlands, the fortress as a protected cultural monument, and several marked routes with different directions and areas of focus. The village is on road III/34761, approximately 10 kilometres north of Humpolec. When choosing a destination, you can first consider whether you would like to include scenery, history or a route in your plans.

Highlands and location

Proseč lies in the Křemešnická vrchovina, which is part of the Českomoravská vrchovina. The landscape is characterised by varied highlands and uplands, and shaped by forestry and agriculture. The Meziklaský potok flows north along the eastern and northern boundaries of the municipality. Together, these geographical features give an impression of the village’s location and its surrounding landscape.

The fortress and local heritage

The fortress and its archaeological traces are an important point of reference for the area’s cultural and historical context. It is located within the municipality of Proseč and is a state-protected immovable cultural monument. The fortress probably dates back to the late 14th century. It was presumably used solely for economic purposes, together with the adjoining farmyard. After it lost this function, it was permanently abandoned. Its history therefore encompasses its early dating, its later use and its eventual abandonment. The chapel in Proseč is also listed as a monument of local importance.

Marked routes and their directions

The marked Rohule–Humpolec hiking route runs south to north through Proseč. Another marked route, named after composer Gustav Mahler, runs east to west through the village. The different directions help you distinguish between the two routes when planning. At the eastern boundary of the municipality, Brádla Hill reaches just under 626 metres. It lies above the G. Mahler Path, providing another geographical point of reference in the area east of Proseč.

For a cycling trip, cycling route No. 211 and the Stezka poznání are two distinct points of reference. Cycling route No. 211 comes from the direction of Kaliště, continues through Proseč and heads towards Záběhlice. The Stezka poznání is a challenging educational route of about 130 kilometres, covering history, nature and places of interest. It has 52 stops, 42 of which have information boards, and is intended for cyclists or motorised road users. Its endpoint is in Proseč near Humpolec. Before setting out on a specific tour, it is advisable to check current route markings and conditions.

Proseč for your hotel search

For hikers, the north–south direction of the Rohule–Humpolec route is a useful point of reference; cyclists can choose between cycling route 211 and the longer Stezka poznání, which is described differently. First consider what best suits your trip, then look for hotels for your stay in Proseč U Humpolce.
