Lipnice Nad Sazavou offers several clearly distinct points of interest for planning a trip: medieval castle architecture, the literary history of Jaroslav Hašek and marked trails. These are complemented by cultural history and sculptures in the nearby flooded granite quarries. If you are looking for hotels in Lipnice Nad Sazavou, these interests can help you decide what to focus on during your stay.

Castle and Cultural History

Státní hrad Lipnice allows visitors to explore monumental medieval architecture at their own pace and offers unique views of the surrounding landscape. A visit to the castle thus combines an appreciation of architecture with views of the landscape.

The amphitheater below the castle is also linked to the area's cultural history. On September 3, 1988, the playwright and dissident Václav Havel gave his first public address in more than 19 years there, at the Folková Lipnice festival. At the time, the festival's official name was “Písní za mír.” This should be distinguished from Haškova Lipnice, which has been held since 1959 in the natural amphitheater below the castle. Thus, a precisely dated historical event and an event tradition dating back to 1959 stand side by side.

Hašek's Life and the Trails of His Story

The Jaroslav Hašek Memorial is a small exhibition in the writer's house about his life and work. A different way to explore the area is the short, marked route “Městskou branou k hrobu Jaroslava Haška.” It leads from the square in Lipnice past the ruins of the town gate, the ruins of the Bílá věž and the Chapel of St. Anthony, as well as the old cemetery with Jaroslav Hašek's grave.

The Haškova cesta takes a different approach. This educational trail is about 12 km long, has seven stops and runs from Světlá nad Sázavou to Lipnice nad Sázavou. It retraces the route taken by Jaroslav Hašek and the painter Jaroslav Panuška on their journey together in 1921. In contrast to the short route and its stops in Lipnice, this trail focuses on the story of the journey between the two places. Check the trail markings locally, as conditions may change.

Granite Quarries and Marked Routes

There are old, water-filled granite quarries with sculptures in the vicinity of Lipnice. Bretschneiderovo ucho is part of the Národní památník odposlechu in these quarries near Lipnice. A clearly marked route connects the monument's artworks, providing a shared trail link between the individual sculptures.

The marked route “Okolo zatopených lomů k Hlavě XXII.” also starts at the square in Lipnice, where there is an orientation map. The routes bring together different themes: Hašek's life and travel story on the one hand, and sculptures in the flooded quarries on the other. Follow the markings when navigating locally.
