Libkova Voda brings together architectural history and routes that pass through the village or lead towards it. It also offers striking historic buildings and a rest stop with a view. This makes it a destination where you can choose how much to focus on cultural history and outdoor activity.

Castle and church: different periods of construction

Libkova Voda Castle is a single-storey, modern-era Neoclassical building. It was built on the site of a former fortress. This brings together two distinct aspects of the village’s history: the castle and the former fortress on the same site.

The church, dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul, was founded between 1340 and 1350 under Arnošt of Pardubice. It was remodelled in the Baroque style from 1686 to 1691; the present-day tower was built in 1873. Its history of construction thus spans its 14th-century foundation, the later remodelling and the 19th-century tower. This gives the church a different timeline from the castle, whose history is linked to the site of a former fortress.

Boží muka and memorial tree

A prominent stone Boží muka from 1692 stands at the entrance to the village. This early Baroque structure can also be recognised by its form: its rectangular shaft has a slightly widened base, its top widens upwards, and the chapel is pierced by niches. This monument thus combines a specific year with a distinctive architectural form.

A winter lime tree stands in front of the castle as a memorial tree. It is estimated to be 300 to 400 years old. Unlike the church’s dated construction phases, the tree’s history is therefore expressed as an age range; the estimate should not be read as an exact year of construction or planting.

Hiking and local orientation

The 47.5-kilometre Pelhřimovský prstýnek II circular route passes through Libkova Voda. This is the length of the entire loop and gives you a specific indication for planning. A hiking sign in the village also points to the yellow-marked trail towards Čelistná. This provides both a circular route with a stated total length and a separate directional sign to help you find your way.
