For a trip to Kadolec, Svatá hora, a nature trail through the village and surrounding countryside offer some specific points of interest. There is also a horse-riding route and religious destinations. You can plan your stay around a hike, a bike ride or a pilgrimage, although these activities do not all follow the same route.

Svatá hora and its nature trail

Svatá hora lies within the cadastral area of the municipality of Kadolec, is 679.3 metres high and is easy to reach on foot from the village. At the summit, there is a pavilion with a stone altar and a statue of Saint Zdislava. Svatá hora is also a pilgrimage site: pilgrimage Masses in honour of Saint Zdislava are held there several times a year. The summit, the structure and its religious significance come together at this named destination.

The Naučná stezka Svatá hora nature trail runs directly through Kadolec. It is 16.9 kilometres long and has 15 information panels. Kadolecká studánka is also within the municipality’s cadastral area and is one of the trail’s stops. The paved sections of the route are suitable for cycling. So if you plan to cycle the nature trail, this suitability applies to the paved sections.

Routes, countryside and different activities

Another type of route is the Jezdecká stezka Velké Meziříčí–Svatá hora horse-riding route. It passes through Kadolec on its way between Velké Meziříčí and Svatá hora. Its key details: 24 kilometres, green markings and difficulty level 2. Unlike the nature trail, it is specifically designated as a horse-riding route. The difficulty rating applies to this route; it does not describe the nature trail.

There are also nine small ponds and extensive forests near Kadolec, making the area inviting for walks and cycling. Alongside the named routes, these offer scenic destinations for outdoor activities. When choosing, you can distinguish between the different details: the nature trail has a set length and information panels, while the horse-riding route has markings and a difficulty rating. The invitation to walk and cycle, by contrast, refers to the ponds and forests in the surrounding area.

Pilgrimages and dates

A pilgrimage is held at the Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Kadolec on the Sunday around 15 August. Check the exact date for the year before you travel. This is a more specific indication of timing than the pilgrimage Masses at Svatá hora, which are held there several times a year. So if a pilgrimage is part of your reason for travelling, the two destinations also differ in their timing: the chapel’s pilgrimage takes place on the Sunday around 15 August, while the mountain hosts Masses in honour of Saint Zdislava several times a year.
