Vražkov combines local history with several routes toward Říp and named destinations in the surrounding area. This mix offers a concrete point of reference when choosing where to travel: in the village center, there is a Baroque chapel and a cross, to which a bell tower was added later. There are also historic wall remains and hiking trails leading in different directions. If you are looking for a hotel for your trip to Vražkov, you can consider whether you would prefer your stay to focus on village history or on a hike on Říp and toward the surrounding villages.

Local History in the Chapel, Village Square, and Škodův statek

A Baroque chapel was built in the village center in 1763 by J. Kratochvíl and donated to the community; it also serves as a war memorial. A plaque bears the names and portraits of residents who fell in the First World War. A cross dating from 1846 stands in the village square; a bell tower was built beside it in the 1920s. The dates show that these features belong to different phases of construction: the chapel, cross, and bell tower were built at different times.

Archaeological finds indicate that Vražkov is one of the oldest Slavic-settled communities in Bohemia. In the cellar of Škodův statek, remains of the walls of a Gothic fortress have been preserved. It stood on the site of the present-day building and was completely destroyed during the Thirty Years’ War. The historical record thus extends from archaeological evidence of early Slavic settlement to specific buildings and surviving wall remains.

Routes to Říp and the Surrounding Area

From Vražkov, a yellow-marked KČT hiking trail leads over a rocky slope and past the Pražská vyhlídka viewpoint to the summit of Říp. At the foot of the mountain, a red-marked circular trail with an educational nature trail branches off and loops around Říp. The routes therefore differ in both destination and format: the yellow trail leads to the summit, while the red trail is a circuit around the mountain. When choosing between them, you can consider whether you prefer to reach the summit or walk a loop. As trail markings may change, check them before setting out.

Another hike leads east from Vražkov, past the shooting range and along the Čepel stream to Průšův mlýn. Toward Mnetěš, a walking trail leads to the Mnetěšská alej educational trail route; it continues on to Ledčice and HistoryPark Ledčice. This gives you a choice of different routes: along the Čepel to a mill, or along an educational trail toward other named destinations.

Other Local and Natural Features

Hřbitov zvířat is located within the cadastral area of Vražkov, at the foot of Říp, on the road from Vražkov toward Rovné. It has been in operation since 2003. The steppe slopes of Vínek near Vražkov offer a botanical point of interest: narrow-leaved flax (Linum tenuifolium) was recorded there at an altitude of about 230 meters; the find dates from 1956. This observation adds a specific natural feature to the local sites and routes.
