When planning a trip to Brzánky, three distinct points of interest stand out: historic homesteads, the Site of Community Importance Sovice u Brzánek, and the Labská stezka. The buildings offer tangible examples of rural architecture, while the protected area and cycling route add landscape and outdoor activity to the picture. If you are looking for a hotel for your stay, you can first consider which of these themes will shape your travel plans most.

Homesteads and rural architectural styles

The four immovable cultural monuments in Brzánky include the rural homesteads at house numbers 10, 18, 21 and 2. The homesteads at Nos. 10, 18 and 21 have distinct architectural features. Homestead No. 22 also has its own form of folk architecture and adds another architectural point of reference in the village.

The homesteads at house numbers 21 and 22 are in the western part of Brzánky, on the north side of the road to Vetlá. Homestead No. 18 is also in the western part, but on the south side of the road. This contrast offers a practical way to locate the described buildings within the village.

The house at Homestead No. 21 is a Neoclassical folk-architecture building dating from after 1800 and before 1843. At Homestead No. 18, the residential building dates from the first half of the 19th century. It has two storeys, and its east façade opens onto a two-storey arcade. These present two contrasting architectural features: the Neoclassical form of the house at No. 21 and the open arcade structure of the residential building at No. 18.

Homestead No. 10 comprises a residential building, a granary with an adjoining barn, and a shed. The protected granary is a small, two-storey folk-architecture building from the early 19th century. Its function as a granary and its connection to the other buildings make the layout of the homestead easy to understand.

At Homestead No. 22, the building’s form takes centre stage: the folk-architecture house has an L-shaped floor plan and a converted attic. Together with the arcade at No. 18 and the protected granary at No. 10, it offers another architectural point of reference, although the buildings do not share the same design.

Sovice u Brzánek and the Labská stezka

The Site of Community Importance Sovice u Brzánek was designated to protect semi-natural dry grasslands and scrub formations on calcareous substrates. The reasons for protection therefore include both dry grasslands and scrub. This provides a specific point of interest for travellers interested in landscape and nature conservation, alongside the area’s architectural history.

The cycling route is another distinct planning consideration: Variant 2A of the Labská stezka, or EuroVelo 7, passes through Brzánky on its route from Roudnice nad Labem to Štětí. Its alignment may change after 2030. If you are planning your trip around this route, check the current route before setting out.

The Roudnice nad Labem–Štětí section of the Labská stezka is particularly suitable for mountain bikes or trekking bikes. Surface conditions may change, so take this into account when planning and check conditions before riding. This suitability information applies to the section named above.

Planning your stay

The official Brzánky municipal website offers a virtual tour. Whether it is currently accessible depends on the website. It provides an additional digital way to get your bearings, while the described homesteads offer concrete examples of building styles and locations in the western part of the village.

When choosing a hotel, you can weigh the different themes according to your travel interests: the homesteads represent rural architecture, Sovice u Brzánek protects specific habitats, and the Labská stezka offers a connection to cycle touring. If you are planning a cycling trip, the current route and changing surface conditions are also relevant. This way, you can tailor your stay to the aspect of Brzánky that matters most to your trip.
