Chapels and church history
The Chapel of Our Lady in Housko was consecrated on 4 September 1921. Since 1921, parishioners have gathered at the chapel each year around the Feast of the Nativity of Mary for a holy mass, giving thanks for the community and praying for its future. The consecration took place on a fixed date; the date of the annual mass, however, may vary from year to year. Check the specific event dates before your trip. The former Church of Our Lady in Housko was probably destroyed during the upheavals of the 15th century. It had already burned down in 1493 and was described as abandoned in 1564.
Church construction in the 19th century
Construction of the Church of Sts. Cyril and Methodius began on 2 June 1864; it was consecrated on 23 November 1873. Together with the Chapel of Our Lady and the former Church of Our Lady, these dates mark different periods in the history of religious buildings.
Swimming and dates
Polačka pond is suitable for swimming. General suitability for swimming and current conditions are two different things; check the current bathing conditions before swimming. The Vysočanská pilgrimage festival takes place in early July. Check the exact dates for each year separately.
