There are several ways to shape your trip to Moravské Knínice: a nature trail with nine stops, churches and chapels, an annual tradition, and a variety of nature-related attractions. If you are looking for a hotel, first consider whether hiking, cultural history or scenery will be the focus of your stay. The points below can help you connect these interests with specific places and themes.

Nature Trail and Getting Around

The Moravské Knínice nature trail follows a blue-marked hiking route from the central bus stop to the pond below the Chapel of St. Cyril and Methodius. Its nine stops pass local natural and historical sights. The route described provides a clear framework for planning: the starting point, destination and stops are all part of a route that explores nature and history.

There is an IDS-JMK line 312 bus stop on Kuřimská Street near Knínický hostinec. As services may change, check the current timetable before travelling. Another landmark is the Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk. It stands at the corner of Kuřimská and U Jánečka streets, on the second-class road towards Kuřim.

Churches and Local Traditions

The Church of St. Margaret was built in 1366. The Markétské hody celebrations offer another cultural perspective: these festivities, held in costume for the feast of St. Margaret, take place every year. The two represent different points in time—the year the church was built and a recurring festive tradition.

The Chapel of St. Cyril and Methodius lies south of Moravské Knínice on a hill beside the road to Písky. Its location is also relevant to the U Kaple-Stráňky landscape feature, which lies below the chapel. This lets you consider buildings and landscapes as separate interests for your trip, without combining them into a single walk.

Landscapes with Different Characteristics

The Obůrky-Třeštěnec natural monument lies within the cadastral area of Moravské Knínice and covers approximately 2.63 hectares. It protects wet-meadow communities on the floor of a permanently waterlogged ravine, home to numerous significant plant and animal species. U Kaple-Stráňky is a 2.5-hectare landscape feature of ecological importance and a local biocentre. It lies 500 metres south of Moravské Knínice, below the Chapel of St. Cyril and Methodius.

Other landscape descriptions highlight different features: most of Čihadlo consists of an extensively grassed cherry orchard. Mokré louky za střelnicí preserves the last fragment of the original, semi-cultivated meadows in the Kuřim area and the wider Brno region. Together, these sites offer different nature-related themes: wet meadows with plant and animal species, a cherry orchard, and a regionally significant meadow fragment.

Swimming Spot and Finding a Hotel

The Pod kaplí pond is designated as a natural swimming spot; swimming is at your own risk. Keep this in mind if you plan to swim. Then compare specific hotel offers based on the criteria that matter to you.
