Lipůvka: Church, Tradition and Trails
Accommodation in Lipůvka
For a stay in Lipůvka, you can consider cultural attractions and trails as two distinct focuses. On the historic western side are the Church of St. Cecilia, the adjacent park and the cemetery. There is also a local festival tradition, as well as named hiking and cycling routes.
Church and Krojované hody
The present-day Church of St. Cecilia was built in 1749 and completed the following year. It is located on Lipůvka’s historic western side, together with the adjacent park and cemetery. Regular services, adoration and prayers are held in the church. During your stay, both the building’s history and the site’s religious use offer distinct cultural points of interest.
Another local tradition is the Krojované hody festival. The stárci, accompanied by a brass band, parade through Lipůvka and invite neighbors to an evening dance in the municipal office hall. Sunday’s program also includes a hody Mass at the Church of St. Cecilia. The Krojované hody are connected with the church’s feast day on November 22. If you would like to plan your trip around this festival tradition, check the specific event dates in advance.
Hiking on the Lipůvecká
The “Lipůvecká” educational trail runs through the cadastral areas of Hořice, Dolní Lhota and Lipůvka in the Blansko District. The route is estimated to take about three hours at a leisurely walking pace; your actual walking time may vary depending on your pace. This makes it possible to plan the trail as a longer block of time in your day, rather than treating it as a short loop.
The “Hančina studánka” spring is located along the route. There, you can refresh yourself with spring water from the forests of Brno. Water availability may vary seasonally. If you walk the trail, the spring is a named stop along the route; however, take possible seasonal fluctuations into account when planning.
Cycling routes with different alignments
The shared pedestrian and cycling path between Lipůvka and Nuzířov starts at the cemetery on the western edge of town. From there, it initially runs west and then northwest, parallel to road II/379. It ends at the cadastral boundary between Lipůvka and Nuzířov, on a farm track. Check the conditions on site before using it.
The Lipůvka–Lažany cycling path opened on August 14, 2010. Another cycling connection is part of the project between Kuřim and Lipůvka: the project is listed as completed, and the plan was to connect the proposed cycling path to the existing cycle route network. These details add different planning contexts to the selection of routes described here. When deciding which route to include in your stay, the specific alignment of the path to Nuzířov and the approximate walking time for the Lipůvecká offer different points of reference.
