Hiking trails with different profiles
The Hnanice–Holy Stone circular route starts and ends at St. Wolfgang’s Church in Hnanice. It is about 4.5 kilometers long and rated easy. If you are looking for a circular route with a specifically stated difficulty level, this rating provides a clear guide. However, the route length is only one part of choosing a hike; the different landscapes along the trails may also be important to your decision.
The Devět mlýnů circular route also starts and ends at St. Wolfgang’s Church and is about 6.5 kilometers long. Compared with the approximately 4.5-kilometer route to Holy Stone, its stated distance is about two kilometers longer. Both trails have the same starting and ending point, but differ in length.
The Hnanice–Šobes hiking trail starts at Hotel Vinice in Hnanice and is rated moderate. Along the way, it passes vineyards, thermophilic oak forests, the Dyje River, rocky sections, and heathland. It therefore differs from the circular routes that start and end at St. Wolfgang’s Church both in its rating and in the landscape features mentioned.
ZnovĂn Walking includes circular routes of 6 to 12 kilometers in the area around Ĺ atov, Hnanice, and HavranĂky. They start at Hotel Happy Star in Hnanice. The different route lengths give you another way to tailor your choice of hike to your plans. Trail conditions may vary; check them before setting out.
Churches, wine cellar lane, and local history
St. Wolfgang’s Church was solemnly consecrated on April 3, 1510; nine altars were also consecrated there at the same time. This precisely dated event gives the church a special place in local history. St. Wolfgang’s Chapel has a striking architectural detail: two large horseshoes hang on sturdy chains above a well surrounded by a stone enclosure.
Sklepnà ulička is also one of Hnanice’s distinctive winegrowing sites. It is among the most original wine cellar lanes in the Znojmo wine region. The connection to wine is evident not only in the cellar architecture, but also in the opportunity to visit a local winery. The site known as Holy Stone is also located near Hnanice and is believed to have been used for ritual and cult purposes as early as prehistoric times. The historical themes thus range from a precisely dated consecration and distinctive architectural details to an early use that is expressly only assumed.
Wine and cycling route
At VinaĹ™stvĂ Ĺ petĂci winery in Hnanice, wine is served by the glass. Guided tastings are available by prior arrangement. If you are planning a guided tasting, arrange it with the winery in advance. Together with SklepnĂ uliÄŤka, this offering adds a specific tasting opportunity to the village’s connection with winegrowing.
Hnanice is also a named point along a cycling route: the cross-border Thayatal National Park cycling route passes through the village. Hiking, cycling, historic buildings, and wine culture therefore offer different starting points for planning your trip. Choose Hnanice based on the themes that interest you, and when selecting accommodation, consider which of these activities are important to your stay.
