Řikonín: a hotel base for the valley and trails
Accommodation in Řikonín
Řikonín in South Moravia lies in the Libochovka Valley. This small village is suitable for a stay focused on marked trails, railway history and a few historic buildings. If you are looking for a hotel in this area, its actual location matters more than a blanket promise of wellness facilities, family amenities or low prices. An option in the wider surrounding area may mean different routes to the station and the village green than an address right in the village.
Valley and hiking trails
Řikonín lies on the left bank of the Libochovka. The surrounding area consists of hills covered mostly with spruce and mixed forests, pastures and small fields. A green-marked regional hiking trail passes through the village. In the opposite direction, it runs via Chytálky and Pasník to Tišnov railway station. This provides a clear point of reference for a day of hiking: you can use the village as an access point to the marked trail, but should plan your own starting point and return to your chosen accommodation separately.
Another walking route through the Haldatal combines nature with traces of history. Near Řikonín, it reaches the railway line and is no more than eight kilometres long. This is a different circuit from a longer stage on the green regional trail. If you have only half a day, you can choose between the valley route and the route to Tišnov, rather than assuming the two names refer to the same trip. The description “no more than eight kilometres” refers to the walking route described, not to the distance from every hotel to its starting point.
Chapels and the history of the mill
The chapel of Saint Giles, built around 1874, stands on the village green. A chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary was built above the village in 1899. These two small buildings mark different points in the village and its surroundings. A wooden cross erected in 1949 also stands beside a field path about 300 metres from Řikonín. Another wooden cross above the Balákův Mill bears the date 1877. These landmarks give a walk a thread of history, without implying that they are open museums.
Balákův Mill, formerly called Severův Mill, lies across the Libochovka from Řikonín. The site originally housed a communal flax-drying barn, where the village shepherd lived. Its location by the stream and this earlier use make the mill a different point of historical interest from the chapels. For guests who want to explore the village slowly on foot, the route across the stream can be a worthwhile addition to a visit to the village green. This history does not establish whether the interior can be visited today or whether food is served there.
Railway station and choosing a location
Řikonín railway station is on line 250 between Havlíčkův Brod, Tišnov and Brno. All platforms are step-free. This is a specific advantage for planning your arrival with luggage or with limited mobility, but it does not tell you how to get from the platform to a particular hotel. To assess that, compare the exact hotel address with the connection you actually plan to take.
For a short stay, the station can serve as an arrival point, the village green as a historic centre and the Haldatal trail as a nature destination. Choose a hotel in the village or nearby based on these routes and the specific room offer. Old promotional claims about children’s, wellness and luxury rooms are not established features of Řikonín and do not help with this decision.
