Vystrkov: Fortified Settlement, History and Wellness
Accommodation in Vystrkov
Vystrkov combines an early medieval fortification with the history of the leisure complex on the OrlĂk Reservoir. If you are looking for a hotel in Vystrkov, historical interests and a specific wellness offering can be different priorities when planning your trip. The wellness centre is part of Hotel OrlĂk; the fortified settlement points to the area's earlier history.
Fortified Settlement and Lakeside Landscape
The KozĂĄroviceâVystrkov hillfort site lies on a wooded, steep promontory on the left bank of the Vltava, also known as the OrlĂk Reservoir. The flooded valley of HradeĆskĂœ Brook is also part of its location; the site is in the former settlement of Vystrkov.
The site covers about 12.5 hectares and is divided by four prominent transverse ramparts.
Early Medieval Context
The fortifications were built in the first half of the 10th century. The site was probably a PĆemyslid centre in the Vltava region and is mentioned in 1088.
The Vystrkov Leisure Complex
The history of the Vystrkov leisure complex is a different chapter. It was originally designed as a retreat for senior officials of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia. It was built in the forests on the left bank of the OrlĂk Reservoir at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s; construction was completed in November 1963. Compared with the early medieval fortification, this complex belongs to a much later historical period.
Wellness at Hotel OrlĂk
The wellness centre at Hotel OrlĂk includes a large indoor swimming pool, a whirlpool, two Finnish saunas with a cold-water pool, outdoor sunbathing areas and a relaxation room. This gives you specific information about the water facilities, saunas and relaxation areasâa useful basis if you want to match your interest in wellness with particular facilities. When making your choice, you can weigh up the options according to your personal preferences: the indoor pool and whirlpool offer water-based activities, while the two Finnish saunas with a cold-water pool provide heat and cooling. The outdoor sunbathing areas and relaxation room, by contrast, put the focus firmly on rest. These options therefore offer different experiences. Consider whether you would prefer to swim, use the sauna or relax, and which of these options matter for your stay. This lets you base your choice on the facilities actually available, not just on the word âwellness.â
Guests who are not staying at the hotel can also use the centre for a fee. If you are visiting without an overnight stay, factor in the charge and check the current access conditions in advance.
When planning your trip, you can therefore weigh up two priorities: the historical context of the place or the specific wellness facilities at Hotel OrlĂk. If the wellness area is important to you, also take into account the fee for guests who are not staying overnight.
