A stay in Obora offers several specific points of interest: a family brewery established in 2015, local biocentres and biocorridors, and a cycling route listed in a municipal plan from 2008. Nearby, the former granary Špejchar Želeč complements these attractions with a collection on agriculture and rural everyday life.

Brewery and Planning Your Visit

Rodinný pivovar Obora has been operating since 2015 on the Novák family farm in Obora, near Želeč and Tábor. The family brewery uses mainly its own hops and malt for brewing. The seating area is decorated with paintings by local artist František Boháč and other artists.

Tours of the brewery and hop garden, with tastings, are available. As dates may vary, arrange the details directly with the brewery before your arrival. The brewery is accessible by car, and parking is available in front of the building. Check the parking situation when you arrive.

Biocentres and Biocorridors

The municipal plan identifies two local biocentres as functional. LBC 1003 “Oborský potok” covers 3.17 ha in Obora u Maršova. LBC 1005 “Pod Lesem” covers 2.28 ha and continues into the cadastral area of Želeč u Tábora. Both figures describe areas, so they can be compared directly.

Two biocorridors are also listed, with their own identifiers and lengths. The functional local LBK 15-x is 420 m long, runs through Čenkov u Malšic and Obora u Maršova, and continues into the cadastral area of Bezděčín. The local LBK 1414 “Oborský potok” runs through Obora u Maršova and also continues into the cadastral area of Bezděčín. It is listed as having a functional section of 1,150 m and a non-functional section of 1,090 m.

The name “Oborský potok” appears for both the biocentre LBC 1003 and the corridor LBK 1414. The identifiers refer to different planning elements: the biocentres are described in hectares, while the focus for corridors is on section lengths in metres.

Cycling Route and Route Description

A municipal plan from March 2008 describes cycle route No. 12 as running through Obora and Maršov to Lom. There it joins cycle route No. 11; the plan assigns it to the Greenway Rožmberského dědictví. If you plan to use this connection for a ride, check the current route and conditions in advance.

An Agricultural Collection Nearby

The former granary Špejchar Želeč is located near Obora. It houses an almost complete collection of agricultural machinery used in the past. This includes old carts, threshing machines, ploughs and harnesses. The collection also features toys, wicker prams and other objects that illustrate everyday life in rural households.

Agricultural work and home life are presented side by side: machinery and work tools on the one hand, toys and prams on the other. For your travel plans, the brewery tour, the historic route description and the collection offer different points of interest, both in Obora itself and nearby.
