Výheň: Cultural Monument and Memorial Routes
Accommodation in Výheň
Výheň can be explored through several clearly distinct themes: the Koněspřežní dráha cultural monument, the biography of the priest Josef Jílek, memorial sites, named routes, and a trout fishing area. You can then decide whether transport and resistance history, memorial sites, a route, or fishing should be the focus of your trip planning.
Cultural Monument and Biography
Koněspřežní dráha
The Netřebice–Výheň section of the Koněspřežní dráha is part of the Koněspřežní dráha national cultural monument. The reference to Výheň therefore concerns a specific section. The combination of the section name and the monument’s name helps pinpoint the topic locally: Netřebice–Výheň names the route section, while Koněspřežní dráha refers to the cultural monument as a whole. The Czech name refers to a horse-drawn railway and provides a concrete way into the history of transport and monuments. If you are interested in historic infrastructure, this connection between the named section and the monument is the central link to Výheň.
Josef Jílek
The priest Josef Jílek was a prominent native son of the municipality of Výheň. He took part in the anti-fascist resistance, produced forged baptismal certificates, and helped forge residence registrations and deregistrations. In doing so, he saved the lives of many people. On 20 April 1945, Jílek was executed by guillotine at Brandenburg Prison. In 1995, he was posthumously awarded the Czech Republic’s state decoration “Za zásluhy” (For Merit), First Class, by the President of the Czech Republic.
Memorial Sites in Výheň
A photograph dated 3 October 2015 shows a wayside cross with a monument in Výheň. If you would like to include this sight in your plans, check its current condition beforehand. A stone passage at the Výheň ČD railway stop also recalls an earlier time. Thus, a wayside cross with a monument and a passage with its own commemorative function stand alongside one another as distinct sights.
Routes and Waterways
The blue “Path of Resistance” connects the memorial sites for victims of the Second World War in Omlenice and Výheň. The focus is therefore on linking these two specific memorial sites. Trail conditions may change; check the current situation before setting out. Route 1198, published in 2025, passes through Kaplice, Pořešín, Rozpoutí, Výheň, Dlouhá, Velešín, Římov, and Kamenný Újezd. While the blue trail connects two memorial sites, Route 1198 lists a sequence of eight places. The route and signage may change, so check both in advance when planning.
The Malše 3 P trout fishing area begins at the Larsen weir by the former Caisův mlýn in the cadastral area of Výheň and continues to the Plachův weir in the cadastral area of Malče. Both endpoints and their respective cadastral areas give the fishing area a clear geographical definition. For anglers, one point remains important: fishing is subject to a valid permit and the applicable rules. Take these requirements into account if you include the area in your plans.
