Trpín brings together a church with a documented construction history, surviving parts of a former religious site and traces of historic routes. At the same time, the landscape stretches from the Křetínka stream valley to Panský vrch at 699 metres. Forests, meadows, ponds and streams shape the area. These different aspects of the place can help guide your plans: you can focus on its architectural and local history, or on its paths and landscape.

Church and Surviving Religious Sites

The present-day Kostel sv. Václava church was consecrated in 1689 and finally completed in 1720. A Baroque timber-framed bell tower stands beside it. The organ is also part of the building’s history: it was made in 1840 by František Svítil of Nové Město na Moravě. The construction dates of the church and organ mark different periods in local religious history, providing a specific timeframe for exploring these subjects.

Majdalenka offers a different perspective. The presbytery of a vanished religious site survives there, as do the perimeter walls of the former nave. The presbytery is the chancel area of the former building. Thus, two different parts of this religious site have been preserved. Anyone interested in historic churches and their architectural traces will find in Trpín both a site still referred to as a church and the remains of a vanished site.

Historic Routes and Local History

Above Trpín, the Boží muka wayside shrine was erected between 1730 and 1750 along a historic route. Another trace of a historic route is the medieval Trstenická stezka: it ran approximately along the route of today’s Bystré–Trpín road and continued via Ústup to Kunštát. Its approximate course is an important part of the description. Remains of defensive trenches are also visible at the edge of Horní les, on the road to Hartmanice.

The Rychta and neighbouring Hostejnice, also known as Hostenice, also tell of the place’s earlier functions. The Rychta has always been a hereditary judicial estate and still bears house number 1. Hostejnice served as a resting and overnight stop for horses, while carters called in at the tavern. These two places thus represent different aspects of history: the hereditary judicial estate and the everyday life of travel with horses and carters. A monument was erected in the 20th century at U Šanců, also known as Švédské šance, and was given the nickname U Kamena.

Landscape and Outdoor Routes

The landscape around Trpín rises from the eastern ravine and the Křetínka valley to 699 metres at Panský vrch. Forests, meadows, ponds and streams are also part of its character. The contrast between the valley and the higher ground adds a landscape perspective to the historic sites, without requiring you to follow a particular route.

Hiking trails pass through Trpín. If you are planning a specific route, check current conditions and trail markings before setting out. Cycle route 5085 also passes through the village, with a tourist rest area along it. Since tourist facilities can change, it is a good idea to check its current condition before your trip. In winter, the terrain around Trpín is suitable for cross-country skiing. This depends on seasonal snow conditions. These differences are useful when planning: hiking and cycling routes pass through the village, while cross-country skiing requires suitable winter conditions.

Pilgrimages and Sacred Music

Since the 17th century, pilgrimages with markets have been held at Majdalenka in July. Concerts of sacred music are held annually in Kostel sv. Václava. The pilgrimage combines a religious occasion with market activity, while sacred music is the focus of the concerts. If you want to plan your trip around one of these events, check the specific dates in advance.
