Sobkovice lies on the southern slope of Faltusův kopec at an altitude of 558 metres above sea level. Hiking routes, views and historic buildings give the village a variety of highlights. You can get to know Sobkovice through its landscape and routes as well as through the history of the Church of St. Procopius and other religious buildings. For your planning, it helps to keep route destinations, building locations and events tied to specific dates in mind separately.

Hiking and Views Around Sobkovice

The Studenský a Jablonský les hiking route reaches Sobkovice via Bořitov and Faltusův kopec. From the Church of St. Procopius, it descends to the Tichá Orlice. A yellow-marked route leads from Sobkovice in the direction of the Pastvinská přehrada reservoir. The destinations described differ: for Studenský a Jablonský les, the route includes intermediate places and the descent to the river, while for the yellow-marked route, it gives the direction of the reservoir. You can compare the routes based on whether the path to the Tichá Orlice or the direction of the Pastvinská přehrada is more important to you.

In clear weather, Faltusův kopec offers views of Lázek near Lanškroun, Buková hora, Suchý vrch, the Králický Sněžník range, Adam, the Studenecké skály and the Krkonoše Mountains. The views into the distance are explicitly dependent on clear weather. If they are an important part of your day, take the expected visibility into account when planning.

The Church of St. Procopius and Other Buildings

The late Baroque subsidiary Church of St. Procopius is located in the central part of Sobkovice, on the main road. It stands in the middle of a small cemetery enclosed by a stone wall. The church’s location in the village and the cemetery’s enclosure are two specific features of its setting.

The church was built in 1774 on the site of an older chapel dating from 1728. Another chapel was built around 1875 at the upper end of Sobkovice, on the road to Studené; it should be distinguished from the earlier building at the church site. A Boží muka dating from 1826 is also located in Sobkovice. The dates therefore refer to different buildings: the older chapel, the church, the Boží muka and the later chapel at the upper end of the village.
