Sádek: Landscape, Cycling Route and Cultural Heritage
Accommodation in Sádek
Sádek is located in the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area. Hilly terrain, a cycling route that runs through the village, and historic buildings give visitors a variety of ways to explore the destination.
Landscape and Cycling
The terrain is hilly and shaped by several long valleys through which small streams flow. Cycling route 4022 runs through Sádek. The valleys and streams define the landscape, while the route provides a direct connection to cycling in the village. If you are considering Sádek as a destination for a cycling trip, you can view the landscape and the route as two distinct yet place-specific factors when choosing where to go. Its location in the protected landscape area provides the broader setting; the cycling route offers a direct link to cycling in the village.
Buildings and Local History
The former Rychtář farmstead, No. 33, is the oldest masonry folk building in the Poličsko region. Around the middle of the 16th century, it served as the seat of the Rychtář. The complex is defined by an enclosed, square courtyard, along with a timber-framed upper storey and a detached masonry barn. The courtyard gives the farmstead a clearly defined layout. The upper storey and barn juxtapose different construction methods, bringing the architectural character of the former seat to life.
The enclosed rural church complex of Kostel Nejsvětější Trojice in Sádek dates from the early Baroque period, between 1710 and 1713. It is a significant monument in the Poličsko region and a local landmark. Services at the parish church of Nejsvětější Trojice in Sádek are held on Wednesdays and Fridays at 18:00, Saturdays at 8:00, and Sundays at 8:30. The times include two weekday evening services and two early weekend services. Check the service schedule before your visit.
Sádek’s original Protestant cemetery was established in 1783, following the Edict of Toleration of 1781. It is protected by the heritage authority; only the stone perimeter wall remains.
Historical Timeline
The dates form a chronological sequence: the farmstead served as the seat of the Rychtář around the middle of the 16th century, the church complex dates from 1710 to 1713, and the cemetery was established in 1783. This makes it possible to distinguish the history of the farmstead, the early Baroque church building, and the origins of the cemetery in chronological terms.
Getting Here and Getting Around
Class II and Class III roads run through Sádek. The Class II road is served by bus routes and has three stops. Bus service and the number of stops therefore refer to this road class, not to both classes of road as a whole. If you plan to arrive by bus, check the timetable for your travel date before setting off. Checking the timetable is useful for finding specific departures.
