Nedvězí combines a hilly valley setting with folk architecture, literary traces and a cycling route. This gives you different points to consider when planning your trip: landscape and distant views, local history or cycling.

Landscape and distant views

Nedvězí lies in a hilly valley on the northeastern edge of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. The village is surrounded by Librův kopec (722 m above sea level), Navrátilův kopec (737 m above sea level), Jírův kopec (729 m above sea level) and Kuklův kopec (698 m above sea level). These four named elevations provide specific landmarks for the valley setting. From Librův kopec, views extend in all directions, including to the border mountains, Sněžka and the transmitter on Praděd. How far these destinations are visible depends on the weather. The landscape therefore includes both the hills in the immediate surroundings and the possibility of distant views.

Folk architecture and Librův grunt

A walk through Nedvězí passes dozens of folk-architecture houses and corners where time seems to stand still. The impression of the walk is shaped not only by individual houses, but also by their sequence and the corners in between.

Librův grunt is Building No. 1 on Librův kopec, on the road to Bystré. Its foundations probably date back to the 16th century. The building inspired Tereza Nováková to write her novel “Na Librově gruntě.” In it, she describes the lives of the local population in the past century and their traditional customs. A specific landmark in local history is thus linked to a literary depiction of life and customs in the area.

Church and historical traces

The filial Church of St. Procopius the Abbot in Nedvězí was built between June 1900 and September 1901. Nedvězský rybník was probably created toward the end of the 16th century. Together with the foundations of Librův grunt, which probably date back to the 16th century, this creates a contrast in time: two older traces dated only approximately are followed by the precisely defined construction period of the church at the beginning of the 20th century.

Polička–Svojanov cycling route

For cyclists, the Polička–Svojanov route and back is a specific point of reference. It is 47.5 kilometers long and suitable for mountain bikes and cross bikes. From the crossroads below Jaroška Hill, the route reaches Nedvězí along a field track. Before setting off, check the track surface and signage.

Compared with the walk that passes folk-architecture houses, the cycling route can be assessed by its length and the types of bikes it suits. This offers different options for your trip: taking in the village landscape and its history, or following a cycling route through the region with a specified distance.
