Bukovka
Accommodation in Bukovka
If you are considering Bukovka as a base for your stay, specific features of the village can help you decide: the Helvetic Evangelical church, the history of Jilovka Fortress, and marked trails. Forests and ponds surround Bukovka to the south and east. This allows you to choose what to focus on, from church history and traces of the past to activities in the surrounding area.
Bukovka Evangelical Church
The Helvetic Evangelical church is Bukovka’s present-day landmark. It was built between 1859 and 1861 on the site of a wooden prayer house. The construction dates and the earlier building give the church a specific place in the village’s history: here, the present-day church can be connected with an earlier house of prayer at the same location.
The church is also occasionally used for concerts, lectures, and youth events. The church program for 2026 lists regular Sunday services at 9:30 a.m. from spring to autumn. One specific, dated event was the Night of Churches on May 29, 2026: the church was included in the program, and a musical program took place there from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The services and this musical program therefore offer different points of reference for planning: a seasonal schedule on the one hand, and an event on a set date on the other.
Fortress, wayside shrine, and monument
Around 1465, the lords of Bukůvka acquired the additional fortress of “Jilovka” and the adjoining Skříní pond. The fortress could only be reached by a wooden bridge. These details are part of the village’s history and differ from the present-day information about trails and events.
Other historical points of interest include a Neo-Gothic wayside shrine dating from 1872 and a liberation monument in the village square. The shrine is associated with a specific year of construction, while the monument is identified by its location in the village square. Together with the church and the history of the fortress, these sites offer different points of reference if you are interested in Bukovka’s architectural and local history.
Ponds and trails in the surrounding area
Forests and ponds shape Bukovka’s landscape to the south and east. A green-marked hiking trail runs through the area of Bukovka along the dam at Rozhrna pond. This identifies both the trail marking and a specific stretch beside the water for a walk. If you plan to take this trail, check current trail conditions before setting out.
There are also two different ways to plan a cycling trip. The 7 km-long cycle route 4276 starts at Trhoňka pond in Bukovka and runs via Křičeň and Rohoznice to Dobřenice. A marked local cycle route also runs through Bukovka and Habřinka. For route 4276, the distance and sequence of places are specified; the local connection, by contrast, centers on the two villages. This lets you distinguish between the routes by distance and geographical course. Check current route conditions before setting out by bike.
