Kolšov lies on the western side of a marginal branch of the Úsovská vrchovina, in a basin between the mountains Dlouhá, Markovice, Brabenečná and Horka. The basin opens to the north and west onto the plain in the Morava River valley. At the same time, Kolšov lies in a valley and is surrounded by forests on three sides. This means that the valley and forest landscapes around the village meet the open plain. The Morava, navigable from Postřelmov, is about 2 km from Kolšov.

Hiking Trails and Destinations Around Kolšov

Hiking trails around Kolšov lead towards the ruins of Brníčko Castle, the Cikánský buk beech tree and the Bradlo viewpoint. The castle ruins are among the nearest significant cultural and historical monuments to the village and are about 3 km from Kolšov. Many people choose Kolšov or Lesnice as a starting point for the hike to Markovice; the route passes over the saddle near the neighbouring Dlouhá. The route to Markovice offers views of, among other things, Sudkovský rybník and Bludov. At the summit, there is a fire pit, benches, a summit register and a signpost. The information for planning your hike varies by destination: Brníčko, Cikánský buk and Bradlo are presented as destinations, while for Markovice, possible starting points, the saddle crossing and facilities at the summit are described.

Cycling and Sporting Events

A marked cycle route passes through Kolšov, heading south towards Mohelnice and Litovel and north towards Hanušovice and Jeseník. If you are looking for a route length to help plan your cycling, the “Cyklo-výlet za poznáním historie” offers another specific reference: the cycling trip is 19 km long and its route passes through Kolšov. The two pieces of information emphasise different aspects—the cycle route is described by its directions, while the trip is described by its length. Club sport is also part of the local cycling scene: SK Kolšov organises cycling races as part of the “Šumperský pohár horských kol” series. The “Běh Markovicou” race is part of the “Chlapácký běh” cross-country running series.
