A trip to Vyšní Lhoty can focus on different things: historic buildings on Prašivá, protected natural areas and designated trails. Local attractions range from a national cultural monument to a technical structure on the Morávka and habitats of rare or endangered species. When looking for a hotel, you can first consider whether cultural history, river scenery, viewpoints or a specific named cycling route best suit your trip.

Cultural history on Prašivá

A wooden church stands on Prašivá. Built in 1640, it is a national cultural monument. It is open to the public during the pilgrimage on the first Sunday after 13 June and during several other Masses. The historic wooden Prašivá mountain lodge dates from 1921 and is located 706 metres above sea level. A historic observation tower is incorporated into the lodge. The two buildings were built 281 years apart, so Prašivá is home to two buildings from distinctly different periods.

River scenery and protected areas

The Skalická Morávka National Nature Monument also includes the cadastral area of Vyšní Lhoty and protects a near-natural, dynamic, braided gravel stretch of the Morávka. Its protected features include gravel bars and riparian ecosystems, which are home to rare or endangered plant and animal species. The Skalická Morávka site is fully accessible, and you can drive to within 250 metres of it. Check local conditions before your visit. The Kršle Nature Reserve is also located within the cadastral area of Vyšní Lhoty. It covers 35.9007 hectares and extends across elevations ranging from 410 to 700 metres. The protected areas have different focuses: Skalická Morávka is notable for its river course and riparian ecosystems, while Kršle is defined by its specified area and elevation range. The weir at Vyšní Lhoty divides the Morávka into a natural river course and a water supply canal, and is considered a technical rarity.

Trails and activities

The Prašivá educational trail has 26 information boards and two panoramic viewpoints, and passes through 11 municipalities. Running and cycling routes start and end at the Prašivá mountain lodge. Cycling route 6174 runs from Prašivá via Vyšní Lhoty to Žermanice and Záguří. The types of routes differ in their focus: the educational trail is characterized by its information stops and route through multiple municipalities, while cycling route 6174 is defined by a specific sequence of places. An official paragliding site with operating rules is also designated on Prašivá.
