Rybí combines a themed walking trail, cultural and historical landmarks, and a hilly landscape. When planning your trip, you can choose among several focal points: art and history, views in the nature park, or the annual tourist march held in spring. If you are looking for a hotel for your stay in Rybí, it may help to decide whether you want to plan around a specific date for the march or get to know the place mainly through its landscape and culture.

Landscape in Podbeskydí

Rybí lies almost entirely within Podbeskydí Nature Park. The nature park was established in 1994 to protect the character of the landscape as well as significant combined aesthetic and natural values. The cadastral area of Rybí is also part of Podbeskydí Geopark. These two designations give the landscape an important place in trip planning.

The Libotín area also includes the cadastral area of Rybí. Libotín is a valuable woodland with ornithological importance. The elevations in Rybí that offer far-reaching views include Holivák; part of the hill is used for ski slopes. Landscape conservation, woodland and viewpoints thus offer distinct aspects of the area.

A walking trail with an artistic connection

The Adolf Zábranský Nature Trail is a walk through the landscape that inspired the painter and illustrator Adolf Zábranský. Ten stops with information panels focus on his life, work and illustrations. The trail also offers views of the hilly landscape of Podbeskydí Nature Park.

If you would like to combine art with a walk, the nature trail offers a specific theme: it focuses on one artist and his work, complemented by the surrounding landscape. This sets it apart from the tourist march, where the choice is shaped by the different route lengths.

Church, chapels and historic Stations of the Cross

The Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross is an early Gothic church dating from the second half of the 13th century; it was later altered. Two wayside chapels in Rybí recall the former pilgrimage procession from Nový Jičín to the pilgrimage churches in Štramberk.

A historic Stations of the Cross was created in the 17th century. It led from the outskirts of Nový Jičín through Rybí to Štramberk and Mount Kotouč. Of the original 14 stations, seven masonry chapels remain. Together with the church and wayside chapels, this route offers a distinct historical perspective on Rybí.

Spring tourist march

The annual tourist march held in Rybí in spring is called “Za pohledy z Rybí.” Its routes are 25 km, 13.5 km and 10 km long, including a route suitable for strollers. The different distances provide a clear basis for choosing how far you plan to go. The program includes a fairy-tale forest for children and a bouncy castle at the finish.

If you would like to include the march in your trip, check the dates for the spring in question. This lets you plan the event separately from a visit focused mainly on the local themes of art, history and landscape.
