Nova Plan offers several concrete points to consider when choosing a destination: local history, cycle routes and swimming facilities. Nová Pláň lies between the Slezská Harta Reservoir and road III/45213. If you are looking for a hotel, this context can help you identify what interests you during your stay: the focus is on the town’s development, named cycle routes and the swimming pool. This allows you to choose a destination based on the things that matter to you for your trip.

Local history between the copper mill and the reservoir

The copper mill around which Nová Pláň developed was founded in 1640. In the second half of the 17th century, a manufactory producing copper goods and copper tableware was established at the mill. This makes it possible to distinguish two stages of development: first the founding of the mill, followed by the production of copper goods. These products give the town’s craft and industrial focus a concrete form.

The settlement itself was also shaped by the construction of the reservoir. During construction of the Slezská Harta Reservoir, most of the original buildings in Nová Pláň were flooded; only the southern part of the settlement survived. Another historical trace is the former chapel, now Penzion U Jelena. It was designed in the Neo-Gothic style and had a prism-shaped tower. As one of two monuments of local significance, it offers an architectural perspective on the town’s history. Neo-Gothic refers to the architectural style, while “prism-shaped” describes the form of the tower.

The healing mineral spring is also part of the town’s history. Visitors from the surrounding area came to Nová Pláň in the past because of its healing properties. The spring was buried during construction of the reservoir and later re-emerged in the same spot. This sequence links the spring’s former importance with the profound changes brought by the reservoir.
