Several themes can help guide your travel planning in Radl: a protected natural area, trails with different themes, and the history of religious buildings and sculpture. If you are looking for a hotel in Radl, consider which of these aspects is most likely to shape your stay. The trails also differ in length and format; at the cultural sites, architectural dates and local monuments offer additional points of reference.

Natural Area and Species Protection

The Přírodní památka Rádlo nature reserve covers 3.5 hectares within the built-up area of the municipality of Rádlo. Protected habitats include sedge wetlands and adjacent waterlogged alder and birch stands. The area protects rare and endangered plant and animal species. Here, nature and species protection are tied to specific habitats: wetland areas and damp woodland form distinct, adjoining parts of the protected area. This gives Radl’s natural character a more precise description than a general account of the landscape.

Experience Trail and Educational Trail

Eldorádlo is an approximately 7-kilometre experience trail for walkers and cyclists. It can be started anywhere in Rádlo and includes twelve themed rest and stopping points. You can therefore choose your starting point within Rádlo; the stations add themed stops along the route. Eldorádlo also includes the children’s route Stezka Veverky Berty. Children can complete fun activities and solve a crossword puzzle along the way.

The Naučná stezka Rádlo educational trail offers a different focus. It runs for about 500 metres through the centre of the municipality and has seven stations on botany, ecology and zoology. The main factors to consider when choosing between the two trails are their length and format: Eldorádlo is the longer experience route, while Naučná stezka is considerably shorter and designed as an educational trail through the centre. The stations also differ: the experience trail focuses on themed rest and stopping points, while the educational trail has seven stations on natural history topics.

Village Square: Church and Sandstone Sculptures

The Getsemanská zahrada is a protected ensemble of sandstone sculptures on Rádlo’s village square, right next to the Nejsvětější Trojice Church. The church is a landmark of the village square. The present-day Neo-Baroque church was built in 1931 to a design by Jablonec architect Karel Rössler and extended in 1948. At the end of 2014, replicas of the Getsemanská zahrada sculptures were ceremonially unveiled on the village square beside the church. The church, ensemble and replicas are thus all associated with the same village square; the church’s construction history and the later unveiling of the replicas are separate historical milestones.

Chapel in Milíře

The Panny Marie Bolestné Chapel, also known as Sedmibolestné, in the settlement of Milíře is the oldest surviving monument in this district of Rádlo. The fully restored, protected sandstone chapel stands at a crossroads of hiking trails near the Císařský kámen observation tower and is a popular stop for visitors from the surrounding area. The chapel therefore combines two aspects: its importance as a surviving monument in Milíře and its location at a hiking-trail junction. This distinguishes it from the sculptures and church on the village square.
