Schwaderbach (Bublava) offers travellers a variety of things to explore: winter sports, outdoor trails and a historic village centre. Options include the Ski centrum Bublava, cross-country ski trails, activities in open terrain and marked hiking trails. There is also an interactive educational trail around Domácí vrch and the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in the centre. When planning your trip, it is worth considering groomed trails, tours in open terrain and excursions on foot as different options.

Winter Sports: Ski Area, Trails and Tours

Ski centrum Bublava offers the usual services of a ski area and is considered particularly suitable for families with children. As services may change, check the current situation before your trip.

On the Czech side of the Ore Mountains, there are 30–40 km of machine-groomed cross-country ski trails in Bublava and its surroundings. Grooming is seasonal. If cross-country skiing is an important part of your trip, check the conditions for your planned dates in advance.

The Krušnohorská magistrála can be distinguished from the trails in the area as a long-distance route: the Bublava–Boží Dar section is one of three unconnected sections of the long-distance ski trail. It is designed for both classic cross-country skiing and freestyle skating. This lets you weigh up the trails in and around Bublava against a specifically named section of the long-distance route.

Ski touring and snowshoeing are possible in the open countryside around Bublava. There are no marked circuits for these activities; the profiles of the local hills are especially suitable for beginners. Unlike machine-groomed trails, tours in open terrain are therefore not laid out as marked circuits. This distinction is useful when choosing between groomed cross-country skiing and ski touring or snowshoeing.

Hiking and Cycling

There are numerous marked hiking trails in both Bublava and the German side. As trail markings may change, check them before setting out. The interactive educational trail around Domácí vrch is suitable for children and adults. It offers a different focus from the marked hiking trails: the interactive educational trail is the main attraction here, while the markings help you find your way on the hiking trails.

For cycling trips, you can arrange to rent e-bikes for adults and children, as well as child trailers, in Bublava. Check before you arrive whether the rental you want is available. When making an enquiry, you can specify whether you need an e-bike for an adult or a child, or a child trailer.

Local History and Places to Visit

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary stands in the centre of Bublava and is a prominent feature of the village. It was consecrated on 15 August 1883 and fitted with stained-glass windows in the early 1930s. These dates mark two different stages: the consecration was followed decades later by an addition to the furnishings. This makes it possible to distinguish the church’s history from its later embellishment in time.

The Bublavské kaskády are another place to visit, close to Bublava. They are 1.8 km from the Bublava reference point. This adds a separate destination to your trip planning alongside the local history and winter sports options.
