Trotina: History and Landscape
Accommodation in Trotina
You can get to know Trotina through its historical traces, landscape, and leisure facilities. When planning your trip, you can decide whether you are more interested in architectural history and memorials, views and walks, or recreational facilities. If you are looking for a hotel, these themes can help you choose accommodation in Trotina to suit your interests.
History and Architecture in Trotina
On July 10, 1926, T. G. Masaryk visited Trotina. The village also has a monument featuring his bust, which was reconstructed in 2011. These dates mark different events: the visit in 1926 and the monument’s reconstruction in 2011. Another historical feature is the stone cross near the village center at house number 31. It stands within an enclosure, and the cross bears the inscription “Nákladem obce Trotiny 1881.” The year 1881 appears in the wording of the inscription; 1926 and 2011, by contrast, refer to the visit and the reconstruction.
Končiny, the southern part of Trotina, contains another historical trace: the remains of the former “u Pourů” mill. There were two former mills in Končiny; the first was a fine example of folk architecture. Trotina also has buildings typical of the Podkrkonoší region’s folk architecture. This architectural detail draws attention to building methods and former uses, rather than just to events associated with a date. You can view the typical buildings in the village and the example of the mill as different perspectives on architectural history.
Views and Walks
The fields sloping south near Trotina offer wide-ranging views of the surrounding area. Končiny, the southern part of Trotina, is considered a particularly beautiful viewpoint. The woods around Trotina also offer opportunities for walks. Views and woodland walks are two different ways to include the landscape in your travel plans: taking in the scenery and spending time walking in the woods.
Leisure Facilities and Getting Around
Trotina has a children’s playground and an outdoor swimming pool; the municipal information about these leisure facilities was published on May 21, 2025. Check the local availability of both facilities before your visit. The playground and outdoor pool are specific leisure facilities, while the woods and views are features of the landscape. When planning your trip, you can therefore distinguish between facilities in the village and time spent in the surrounding countryside.
There are bus connections from Trotina to Dvůr Králové nad Labem and Miletín. Check the current timetable before travelling if you plan to use either connection. Trotina is also located away from the main route between Hořice and Dvůr Králové nad Labem. The bus connections name destinations, while the information about the main route describes the village’s location; these are two different points of reference for planning your journey.
