Syrovátka offers two clear themes for a stay: cycling routes through the town and the history of the local sugar factory. These are complemented by a green town centre, historic buildings and Masopust. If you are looking for a hotel in Syrovátka, these themes can help you decide what to focus on during your stay—cycling, industrial history or local festivities, for example.

Cycling Routes and Views

Cycling Route 4200 from Pardubice to Hrádek u Nechanic passes through Syrovátka. At the town’s railway station, it connects with Cycling Route 4198 from Plačice to Dobřenice. The route numbers and endpoints help distinguish the two connections: Route 4200 runs between Pardubice and Hrádek u Nechanic, while Route 4198 runs between Plačice and Dobřenice; Syrovátka is their shared connection point. The “Dobřenická vyhlídková” hiking route offers a different perspective, with views of Syrovátka and the former sugar factory’s chimney. When choosing an excursion, the routes offer different focuses: the cycling routes provide connections between named endpoints, while the hiking route draws attention to the town and the chimney.

Sugar Factory and Industrial History

The local sugar factory gives Syrovátka’s industrial history a concrete focus. Its historic buildings date from the 19th and 20th centuries. From 1880, a branch railway line more than three kilometres long ran from Dobřenice railway station to the Weinrich sugar factory in Syrovátka; it was later referred to as an agricultural sugar factory. This railway connection is historically distinct from the cycling routes: the branch line began at Dobřenice railway station, while Cycling Routes 4200 and 4198 connect at Syrovátka railway station. This makes it possible to distinguish two different transport connections. The sugar factory’s chimney is 61 metres high and has a circular shaft. It is thought to have been built around 1851; later alterations and reconstruction are also part of its history. The sugar factory can thus be understood both through its historic buildings and as the destination of a former railway connection. The likely early date of the chimney, the branch line from 1880 and the buildings from the 19th and 20th centuries all figure in the site’s chronology.

Town Centre, Historic Buildings and Masopust

Mature trees and other extensive greenery in the centre contribute to the town’s aesthetic character. This adds a distinct facet to its industrial history: the green town centre. The bell tower on the village square has been reconstructed. A stone cross in Syrovátka dates from 1884 and was restored in 1908. The bell tower is notable for its reconstruction, while the year the stone cross was erected can be distinguished from its later restoration. The local festivities also have a specific timeframe: Masopust was celebrated in Syrovátka in 2024, 2025 and 2026. These three years add a more recent connection to local festivities alongside the older building history.
