The Via Piette is a 9-kilometre educational trail. The entire route is designed to take approximately three hours to walk, with 291 metres of elevation gain to overcome. As a walking route in the surroundings of Svoboda nad Úpou, the trail connects cultural monuments and technical attractions. Along the Černohorský potok, it also passes through a stretch of near-natural landscape. The Via Piette is suitable for hiking and, in dry weather, also for mountain biking. This means that different types of landscapes and activities coexist along the same route, while the length, walking time and elevation gain provide a specific indication of the scope of the tour.
Landscape
The Sklenářovické údolí natural monument is part of the route. It is a complex of meadows and wetlands containing a particularly well-preserved vegetation mosaic. The natural monument also includes protected plant and animal species. The landscape along the Via Piette thus extends from the near-natural surroundings of the Černohorský potok to the open meadows and wetlands of the natural monument.
Culture and History
In the second half of the 19th century, the paper mills of Svoboda nad Úpou produced the first cigarette paper in Central Europe and exported it as well. This chapter of the town's history stands alongside the technical attractions that can be seen along the Via Piette. The Rudolfovy Celebrations are held regularly in Svoboda nad Úpou in autumn. The Rudolfovy Celebrations include demonstrations of gold mining and gold panning. The cultural offerings thus encompass both the history of industrial paper production and a regularly recurring autumn event featuring gold mining and gold panning.
Winter
Svoboda nad Úpou is one of five interconnected areas of SkiResort ČERNÁ HORA - PEC. With a ski pass, the ski resort offers more than 50 kilometres of ski runs.
Experiences
At Farmapark Muchomůrka, visitors can observe, feed and pet freely roaming animals at close range. In addition to this direct animal observation, the park offers nature-oriented play features, a castle made of straw bales and swings. Other activities include Indian tennis and croquet. A fire pit is provided for baking bread on sticks or barbecuing. Farmapark thus combines contact with animals with various play and activity options in one place, without limiting these offerings to a single activity.

Getting There
The Trutnov - Svoboda nad Úpou regional railway line terminates at Svoboda nad Úpou station. As early as the beginning of the 20th century, tourism in Svoboda nad Úpou began to develop thanks to the construction of the railway line. The railway line is therefore both part of the town's history and a specifically named terminus of the current regional connection.
