Černilov combines gently rolling, agricultural countryside with distinctive churches and a varied cultural and community life. These themes offer different ways to choose where to stay: nature and distant views, architecture and local history, or events in the town. If you are looking for a hotel in Černilov, you can start by considering which of these interests matters most for your trip. This makes it easier to assess Černilov as a destination based on your own interests.

Landscape and Distant Views

Černilov lies in gently rolling, agricultural countryside and stretches for several kilometres along the Černilovský potok. On a clear day, views extend to the ridges of the Krkonoše and Orlické Mountains. The stream is therefore part of the town’s landscape, while views of the mountain ridges depend on good visibility. If you are considering a rural setting when planning your trip, these features are concrete reasons to choose Černilov.

Churches and Local History

The Church of the Finding of St Stephen in Černilov was built between 1752 and 1756 to designs by Donato Morazzi of Chrudim. Its slender tower is just under 40 metres tall and can be seen from far across the surrounding area. Inside is a sandstone baptismal font dating from 1895. This brings together a prominent feature of the exterior and a historic detail of the interior.

The Middle Evangelical Church of the Czech Brethren in Černilov has a different design. It was built in the pseudo-Romanesque style; its rounded apse faces east, while the tower stands above the west façade and bears the inscription “POKOJ VÁM”. Inside, there is a single-manual organ and wall inscriptions with quotations from the Gospel of Luke and the Psalms. While the slender tower and baptismal font stand out at the Church of the Finding of St Stephen, the evangelical church can be distinguished by the layout of its architectural features and the design of its interior. For travellers interested in ecclesiastical architecture, the two churches represent distinct architectural profiles.

The former Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession is also part of the town’s history. It was completed in 1824. In 1969, the local National Committee took over the building; it was subsequently converted into a funeral hall. Alongside the architectural features of the other two churches, the later conversion of a former church building is also part of the town’s history.
