Všechlapy: Archaeology and History
Accommodation in Všechlapy
Všechlapy can be explored through archaeological traces, historic architectural forms, and recurring events. Local points of interest include the wooden bell tower, finds from different periods, and the archaeological enclosure Na Kyselce. The Klobuš watercourse and an annual mountain bike race are also among the specific features that define the destination.
Landscape and Watercourse
Všechlapy lies in gently rolling terrain without pronounced landscape boundaries. The Klobuš watercourse comes from the north and bends slightly to the southeast in the Všechlapy area.
The Wooden Bell Tower
The wooden bell tower in Všechlapy was made from a single tree trunk and has a small roof. Inside is a bell bearing the year 1759. For travelers interested in local history or traditional architectural forms, the tower is a point of interest in its own right, alongside the archaeological themes of the village.
Archaeological Traces from Different Periods
Settlement traces from the Late Bronze Age, the Early Roman Imperial period, and the early Middle Ages were found at the former site of Sad Míru. The former site also contained an early Slavic semi-subterranean hut with a heating installation in the northeast corner. A semi-subterranean hut was partially set into the ground. The term describes its position relative to the terrain; the northeast corner identifies the part of the building where the heating installation was located.
Other finds offer different points of interest. Parts of a mammoth skeleton were discovered during road construction in the direction of Nymburk. Differently worked stones were found nearby, between Všechlapy and Krchleby.
The Na Kyselce Enclosure
The archaeological enclosure Na Kyselce lies on the northwestern edge of Všechlapy. It is shaped like an irregular oval measuring about 240 × 160 meters and is bounded by two parallel ditches that are interrupted in several places. An irregular oval is elongated and rounded but not uniformly shaped throughout. The two parallel ditches run alongside each other and are interrupted in several places. At about 240 × 160 meters, the longer dimension is roughly one and a half times the shorter one.
Mountain Bike Race and Music Event
The Všechlapská šlapka is a mountain bike race held annually in Všechlapy. Its route is 33 kilometers long and runs mainly along field and forest tracks. People of all ages can take part.
Another recurring event is Ostofest, a showcase of music groups held once a year in Všechlapy. While the cycling route is a key feature of the Všechlapská šlapka, music takes center stage at Ostofest. If you would like to plan your trip around this event, check the current event date in advance.
