Ptýrov: Nature, culture and active travel interests
Accommodation in Ptýrov
A trip to Ptýrov can focus on several different themes: natural formations along the Jizera, cultural history, cycling, gastronomy and equestrian sports. These themes differ considerably: the rock formations represent geological features, while the hunting lodge and chapel offer different historical points of interest. The Greenway Jizera and equestrian sports add different forms of activity to the options.
Nature and landscape
At Skalní sruby Jizery, there are impressive rock faces and two lateral niches formed by the Jizera’s lateral erosion. Below them lies the Jizera’s most geomorphologically distinctive pseudokarst niche. This nature theme therefore focuses both on the visible rock faces and on how the niches were formed. Access can be very difficult during the growing season; conditions may vary depending on vegetation management. Take this seasonal factor into account when planning a visit to the rock formations.
A separate natural feature is the Maníkovice oaks: a group of remarkable pedunculate oaks in Maníkovice. In contrast to the rock niches shaped by river erosion, the focus here is on a group of oaks. These are two distinct natural features: the geomorphological form of the niches and the remarkable pedunculate oaks.
Cultural history
The Baroque Valdštejn hunting lodge is located in Maníkovice, within the cadastral area of Ptýrov, and was built in 1711. It is a protected cultural monument. The chapel in Ptýrov offers a different historical point of interest: it was renovated in 1992 and consecrated at a ceremony on 11 July. The dates serve different purposes: 1711 marks the construction of the hunting lodge, while the dates concerning the chapel refer to its renovation and consecration.
Cycling on the Greenway Jizera
The signed Greenway Jizera cycle route runs from Mnichovo Hradiště, past the Ptýrov weir, and on to Veselá and Lhotice. This sequence gives you a specific guide to the route’s direction: from Mnichovo Hradiště, past the weir, and then on to Veselá and Lhotice. When planning a cycling trip, this is a different point of reference from the seasonally difficult access to the rock formations. Check the route markings and conditions before setting off.
Gastronomy and equestrian sports
Farma Ptýrov combines gastronomy and equestrian sports as additional themes. The restaurant specializes in modern Czech cuisine and also serves steaks and international specialties. The menu may change. As an equestrian centre, Farma Ptýrov has two outdoor riding arenas, an indoor arena, a lunge ring and a horse walker; the configuration of these facilities may also change over time.
Events associated with Farma Ptýrov include national and international show jumping tournaments, national championships, Hubertus rides and events for children. If one of these events is the reason for your trip, check the specific date in advance. This allows you to consider the gastronomy, equestrian facilities and potential event interests separately when planning your trip, rather than treating them as a single offering.
