Přestavlky u Čerčan offers several distinct points of interest for a trip: an annual harvest celebration, a history of construction and remembrance with specific dates, and a longer municipal hike. Historical themes include two chapels, the memorial to the fallen of the First World War and Stará Dubá. This lets you consider cultural interests and physical activity as separate focuses for your stay.

Festivals and Local History

The Dožínková harvest celebrations take place annually and are dedicated to the harvest. They are organised jointly by Přestavlky u Čerčan, Vranov, Agro Přestavlky a.s., and the municipalities of Přestavlky and Vranov. If you would like to plan your trip around the festival, check the specific event date in advance.

The two chapels offer a concrete comparison of their construction histories. The chapel in Čistec was built in 1897, and the chapel in Přestavlky two years later, in 1899. The chapel in Čistec was restored in 1999 and again in 2016; the chapel in Přestavlky was restored in 2002 and 2014. For both, the first listed restoration took place just over a century after construction: 102 years later in Čistec and 103 years later in Přestavlky. Thus, construction dates close to one another are paired with different restoration timelines.

Unlike the annual harvest celebration, the memorial to the fallen of the First World War can be placed in context using specific historical dates. It was erected in Vepří on 5 September 1920 and relocated in 1969. After a new plaque was installed, it was ceremonially unveiled again on 6 July 1969. The year 1969 therefore encompasses two distinct events: the relocation and the later unveiling.

Stará Dubá: Castle and Riverside Setting

One historical site associated with Přestavlky u Čerčan is Stará Dubá, a protected cultural monument with castle ruins and archaeological traces. The castle was founded in the 13th century by a member of the Benešoviců noble family. Its ruins stand on a wooded, rocky spur above the left bank of the Sázava, opposite the village of Poddubí. Below the castle lay the fortified settlement of Odranec; the castle gate still stands today. The site's history thus includes the founding of the castle, the settlement below it and the surviving gate.

Hiking and Community Life

The municipal walk “Procházka kolem naší obce” is a 21 km hike around Přestavlky u Čerčan that passes through all five of the municipality’s neighbouring localities. The 21 km indicate the length, while the five localities define the municipal scope of the route—two different reference points for your planning. Allow for a longer hike and check local conditions before setting out.

The Carp Club Přestavlky 2009 fosters young people’s interest in nature and fishing. It organises fishing competitions, children’s events and social events for the public. Its efforts to foster interest are aimed at young people; its social events, meanwhile, are open to the public. If you would like to include a particular event in your travel plans, check the specific date in advance.
