When searching for a hotel in Obecnice, it may help to first decide what you would like to focus on during your stay. The area offers a range of themes, from the nature trail and cycling to the history of the church, the Brdy landscape, and the Koupaliště. This can help you consider which excursions and interests are most important for your trip.

Klobouček Nature Trail and its themes

The Klobouček forestry nature trail starts and ends at the visitor car park by Obecnice’s football pitch. Its twelve stops provide information about the Brdy, forestry, the area’s tree species composition, plant life, wildlife, hunting, and water retention in the landscape. The topics therefore range from plants and animals to the use and care of the forest. Visitors interested in nature can also learn about the role of forestry and the management of water in the landscape.

In 2023, a free augmented reality app was used on the nature trail as part of a pilot project. At selected points in the forest, it displayed a red deer, a fox, or a tawny owl. If you would like to experience this digital feature, check before your trip whether the app is still available.

Nature trails and cycling route

The Fabiánova stezka passes through Obecnice and introduces tourists and cyclists to local sights and excursion destinations in the Podbrdsko region. Cycling Route 8198 connects Láz and Obecnice over 9.5 kilometres. The descriptions give the two options different emphases: the Fabiánova stezka focuses on sights and regional excursion destinations, while the cycling route specifies the connection between two places and the route’s length.

The virtual GEOFUN nature trail is also located in the vicinity of Obecnice. Check in advance whether the associated app is available if you would like to include this activity in your plans.

Koupaliště Obecnice

The municipal strategic plan describes Koupaliště Obecnice as a 50 × 20-metre concrete pool supplied by the Obecnický Stream. The pool floor slopes gently and is designed for both swimmers and non-swimmers. For the grounds, the plan lists a well-maintained lawn, privacy screens for changing, toilets for up to 200 people, refreshments, and a children’s play area with a small pool. A tourist description also lists an outdoor swimming pool, tennis, volleyball, football tennis, a children’s play area, and refreshments. Individual facilities may change; check before your visit whether the services that matter to you are available.

Church of St. Simon and Jude

The Church of St. Simon and Jude is Obecnice’s most important landmark and dates from 1807. Its tower was built in 1825, and two side chapels were added in 1854. The interior includes a valuable Neoclassical pulpit from the late 18th century and Empire-style doors in the west portal. The building’s history and furnishings thus reflect several periods: the pulpit predates the church, while the tower and chapels were added later. This gives travellers interested in culture specific dates that help them trace the development of church architecture.

CHKO Brdy Protected Landscape Area

Part of the municipality of Obecnice lies within the CHKO Brdy Protected Landscape Area, established on 1 January 2016. The features designated for protection include valuable woodland, meadows, wetlands, heathland, and numerous streams. The protected area covers part of the municipality; the landscape features listed illustrate the range of features designated for protection. Together with the nature trail themes, this creates a connection to nature that encompasses woodland, open spaces, and water.
