Činěves offers two distinct areas of interest for planning a trip: sacred architecture and commemorative history, and Zásadník Pond with its water-management surroundings. Information about the church, rectory and monuments relates to different periods of construction and creation. At Zásadník, a municipal fishing pond lies beside a retention basin. When choosing a hotel destination based on culture or proximity to water, you can weigh these themes separately.

Church, Rectory and Building History

The Church of Saint Wenceslas was built from 1730 to 1732 to plans by Tomáš Haffenecker, a builder from the Lesser Town. The rectory is older: it was built in 1711–1712. The farm buildings followed by around 1750 at the latest. The chronology is therefore clear: the rectory was built before the church, and the farm buildings came later. The rectory retains a Baroque roof structure and a ceiling with board cladding. These architectural features add specific details about the roof and ceiling to the dates.

Monuments and Their Creation

The monument featuring a statue of the Virgin Mary was created by sculptor Černil in 1892–1893 from fine-grained Hořice-type sandstone. Another statue is dedicated to Saint John of Nepomuk. The stonemason Václav Bydžovský made it in Nový Bydžov; in 1866, Father František Šafránek consecrated it. The dates refer to different events: 1892–1893 is when the Marian monument was created, while 1866 is the year the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk was consecrated.

The restored gravestone of Dorota Křinecká is permanently displayed in the vestibule of the Church of Saint Wenceslas. It may occasionally be accessible to the public there. If you would like to see it, check access arrangements in advance.

Zásadník and the Adjacent Retention Basin

Zásadník Pond is located in the cadastral area of Činěves and covers 62,516 m². It is a municipal fishing pond intended for anglers and the general public. An 8,488 m² retention basin lies directly beside the pond. Its function differs from that of the fishing pond: in spring, it holds back water from melting snow, and during heavy rain, it stores rainwater. The two areas can therefore be distinguished by size and purpose: Zásadník is the fishing pond, while the smaller basin is used to retain and store water.

Accommodation and Planning Your Visit

A public campsite with overnight accommodation in cabins is located next to the pond. This campsite accommodation is distinct from a hotel stay. If you are specifically looking for a hotel, consider the cabins as a separate type of accommodation. Before planning, check locally whether the campsite is currently operating and what booking arrangements apply.

To commemorate the consecration of the Marian monument, the traditional Bohemian pilgrimage takes place in Činěves every year on the first Sunday in July. The program and exact date may vary. If you would like to plan your trip around the pilgrimage, check the details for the relevant date in advance.
