Ordino: Trails, Winter and the Sant Pere Tradition
Accommodation in Ordino
Ordino offers a range of reasons to stay: short, self-guided themed trails, a linear route of about 4.2 kilometres, winter sports and the annual parish festival of Sant Pere. Route lengths and location details offer practical reference points for planning your trip.
Trails and nature
In Sorteny Nature Park, the self-guided Camà de la marta runs for 500 metres from the park’s information hut to the botanical garden. Ten interpretive stations line the route. Check local conditions before setting out.
The self-guided CamĂ del Grau de la Llosa also ends at the botanical garden, but follows a different route: it runs along the Sorteny River from the forest track to the garden, with ten interpretive stations, and is 400 metres long. Both trails therefore have the same number of stations and the same destination; the CamĂ de la marta is 100 metres longer and starts at the information hut, while the Grau de la Llosa starts at the forest track.
A longer route option is the linear Ruta del ferro. It starts in Llorts, in the parish of Ordino, and is about 4.2 kilometres long. As a linear route, it differs in shape from the two short, self-guided trails, each with ten stations.
The Bosc Viu walk is in the l’Esquella d’Ordino forest. Themed trees introduce children aged three and up to the legend of the Tió de Nadal. The age guidance is a useful reference when planning a stay with children; no route length is specified for this walk.
Winter sports in Ordino ArcalĂs
Ordino ArcalĂs has more than 30 kilometres of skiable terrain, with pistes for all ability levels, from beginner to expert. The offering may change from season to season; check current operating information before travelling.
In addition, the ski area has five marked ski touring circuits totalling 11 kilometres. These details describe different options: skiable terrain with its pistes on the one hand, and marked circuits for ski touring on the other. Check the ski area’s current rules and conditions before using the circuits.
Festivals and cultural context
On the evening of 28 June, Ordino celebrates the start of summer and the Sant Pere parish festival. The festivities include lighting the Falles and burning the Mai de Sant Pere. If you are interested in the tradition, the evening of 28 June is the specific date to plan around.
Estripagecs are a cultural reference in the broader context of Andorra. These iron structures once protected house windows from thieves and, over time, became a cultural symbol and a marker of Andorran identity. This regional context adds another perspective on the trip alongside the local trails, winter sports and parish festival.
