In Pal, you can explore Romanesque architecture and activities that are specifically designed to include young children. When planning your trip, it is worth distinguishing between these different highlights: Sant Climent represents Romanesque architecture, the Bosc dels Menairons is a circular trail, and the Pekepark offers playful skiing.

Romanesque architecture in Pal

The historic complex of Pal has been restored and renovated to recover its historical value. The Sant Climent church in the centre of Pal offers a specific insight into the town’s Romanesque architecture. It has Romanesque origins, was built between the 11th and 12th centuries, and retains parts of its original masonry.

A distinctive architectural detail can be found on the bell tower: its third storey has paired double windows. These windows are unusual for small bell towers and are considered unique in the valleys of Andorra. Inside the church is also an original granite baptismal font. At Sant Climent, you can therefore see both features of the Romanesque church building and a specific furnishing.

Circular trail and snow park

The Bosc dels Menairons is the first Macarulla trail created by Andorra Tourism. Its purpose is to make mountain walks more accessible and enjoyable for young children. In Pal, the entrance to the white-stone trail leads to the Bosc dels Menairons circular route, which has several stops. The route description and its classification as a Macarulla trail provide a specific reference point when planning a walk for young children.

The Pekepark offers young children a different kind of activity: they can learn to ski through play, with various attractions. The snow park has two conveyor belts. If you want to take this feature into account when planning, check its current configuration in advance. This makes the difference between the two offerings clear: the Bosc dels Menairons is a mountain walk with several stops, while the Pekepark offers playful skiing.

The Pal sector of the Pal Arinsal ski resort also includes a bike park. When choosing activities, you can therefore distinguish between the topics mentioned: Romanesque architecture, a hiking trail designed for young children, playful skiing and a bike park. These refer to different experiences and do not form a single route.

More cultural attractions and trails in the wider destination of La Massana

La Massana also offers its own points of interest for culture enthusiasts. At the Farga Rossell, visitors can learn about the entire process of making and processing iron, through to the production of iron bars, as well as how the techniques used have developed. Check the current visitor regulations before your visit.

The parish church of Sant Iscle and Santa Victòria de la Massana dates from the 17th century and was built over an older medieval place of worship. Inside are five Baroque altarpieces from the 17th and 18th centuries. La Massana Còmic offers thematic exhibitions by internationally renowned artists, discussions with authors, film screenings and comic workshops. La Massana Còmic is open only when exhibitions are running, so check in advance whether an exhibition is currently on.

For a different perspective on the surrounding area, the Itinerari de la pedra seca passes through wooded and built-up areas. The examples in La Massana therefore differ both from one another and from the local highlights in Pal: they range from ironworking and church art to exhibitions and a trail through wooded and built-up areas.
