Accommodation in Menstrup
Menstrup offers several specific themes to consider when planning a trip: the Menstrup Revue, held every autumn; the history of the veterans’ association; and the landscape around Menstrup Bjerg. If you are looking for a hotel in Menstrup, you can start by deciding what you want to focus on during your stay. Are you visiting an event, exploring local history, or taking a scenic outing?
The Menstrup Revue as a reason to visit
The Menstrup Revue takes place every autumn at Hotel Menstrup Kro. For the 2026 edition, you can order tickets directly from the hotel without booking an overnight stay. If you would like to combine your visit with a hotel stay, plan around the autumn dates and check the ordering information for 2026. This will help you decide whether to include an overnight stay alongside your event visit.
Scenery and hiking
Menstrup Bjerg offers sweeping views across the southern landscapes. There is also a specific local connection for hikers: the Lagunestien trail between Næstved and Bisserup offers the option of a detour to Menstrup Bjerg. The hill is a possible detour destination, while the trail itself runs between Næstved and Bisserup. You can make the viewpoint a focus of its own or include the possible detour in your hiking plans.
Veteran history at Marvede Gamle Skole
Marvede Gamle Skole, near Menstrup, houses a small museum with memorabilia donated by former personnel from missions in, among other places, Gaza, Cyprus, the Congo and the Balkans. The exhibition and the historic rooms help preserve the identity of peacekeeping, peacemaking and war veterans. A visit to the school therefore takes in both the memorabilia and the historic surroundings.
Everyone is welcome at the veterans’ association to talk about deployments, the association’s work and veterans’ affairs. If you would like to have a conversation, arrange your visit in advance. Private individuals and associations can also rent rooms at the school. If you are considering this option for your own event, confirm the booking details in advance.
Historical connections to Menstrup
The historical connections span the Middle Ages through to the liberation of 1945. In the Middle Ages, the Bishop of Roskilde, as well as Skovkloster, Antvorskov and Ringsted Abbey, owned farms in Menstrup that were granted as fiefs. One specific event dates to 1387: Lord Fikke Moltke received a fief with five farms in Menstrup together with Solte, later known as Saltø. In 1504, King Hans sold nine farms in Menstrup to Oluf Daa of Ravnstrup.
The two dates refer to different events: in 1387, the matter was a fief with five farms; in 1504, the sale of nine farms. A memorial stone in Menstrup commemorates the liberation of 1945. The medieval landholding arrangements and the later commemoration of the liberation can therefore be understood as distinct historical themes of the town.
