Ordrup: Village Character, Views and Trails
Accommodation in Ordrup
Ordrup combines a well-preserved historic village character with exceptional views across Elverdamsdalen. It also offers specific starting points for walks along the Fjord Trail and for walking and cycling routes to the village. When choosing a destination, you can consider its character, landscape and opportunities for outdoor activity separately. Prehistoric traces in Ordrup Skov and a B&B are also local points of reference.
Village Character and Landscape
Parts of Ordrup’s historic village character have been preserved. From the western end of the village, there are exceptional views across Elverdamsdalen. The village character and the view offer different perspectives on the place: one relates to its historic appearance, the other to the landscape around the valley. If you weigh these aspects when planning your trip, you can consider village character and views as separate highlights.
Ordrup Skov also has a historical connection: the forest contains several prehistoric burial mounds. The Rundhøj in the forest is located beside a forest track, about 350 metres from a public road, on the edge of a raised moraine on a valley slope descending to the northeast. The forest therefore offers two distinct features: archaeological traces and a specifically described landform. The burial mounds and the location of the Rundhøj each provide a separate point of reference for travellers interested in history and landscape.
Routes and Getting Around Ordrup
At the path by Tempelkrog Nord, pedestrians and cyclists can continue to the village of Ordrup. Ordrup also has a car park providing access to a walk along the Fjord Trail beside the Isefjord. For your planning, these are two distinct starting points: continuing to the village and walking beside the fjord. Check local parking conditions before your visit.
In the Ordrup By district, the Fjord Trail runs along Elverdamsvej. Ordrup Landsby is one of the sights along the Fjord Trail 5 section. From Ordrup, you can follow the Fjord Trail to the mouth of the Elverdamsåen and enjoy views of Egernæs along the way. These details serve different purposes for orientation: Elverdamsvej locates the route within the district, while the river mouth and the view provide a specific destination for an outing from Ordrup.
Another route takes you back through Ordrup Skov to Vintre Møller. Ordrup also has a bus stop; check the current bus service before travelling. As route conditions can change, check the current route before setting out for a walk.
Accommodation and Travel Planning
Højtoft B&B offers upstairs accommodation for a family, with up to five sleeping places. The B&B also has a shelter. The maximum number of sleeping places gives families a specific point of reference when planning to stay together. Compare it with the size of your travel group and check availability for your dates. This lets you take the accommodation information into account without conflating it with the village’s routes and landscape features.
