Jordrup Church and the regional cycling routes offer two distinct themes for trip planning: history and cycling. At Truds Å and Skærsø, further specific landscape and route features take centre stage, ranging from a short circular route to summer swimming at the designated beach.

Church and local history

Jordrup Church was built in 1884, replacing a small medieval church that had stood in exactly the same location. The sequence of two church buildings on the same site is therefore central to the local history: the medieval predecessor was replaced, not moved to another location. Jordrup Church, at Borgergade 11, 6064 Egtved, is a possible starting point for the Middelalderruten R35. In addition to its building history, the church thus also plays a specific role in navigating the route.

Cycling in Jordrup

The Middelalderruten R35 passes through Jordrup and, starting from the Hærvejen, follows small paved country roads and forest tracks. The Troldhede Railway – Regional Route 62 runs north from Ferup via small roads to Jordrup and Knudsbøl; it also follows a gravel track through Egtved Ådal and Tågelund Plantage. This gives you different points of reference when choosing a route: the R35 is notable for its connection to the Hærvejen and its mix of country roads and forest tracks, while Route 62 features the places mentioned and the gravel track through the two natural areas. Check the current conditions on the R35 before setting out.

Circular routes and river valley at Truds Ă…

At Truds Ă…, the 1.5 km circular route on the western grounds within the enclosure is the shortest and easiest option. Its length and comparative rating provide two specific points of reference when choosing a route. In the river valley at Truds Ă…, you can walk across flowering dry grasslands and along steep slopes. In the hilly landscape around Truds Ă…, you can spot wild horses and beautiful wildflowers. Here, you can enjoy both a circular route with a clearly stated length and the landscape, plants and wildlife.

Skærsø: lake, beach and route

Skærsø is the only bathing lake in Kolding Municipality, Jutland’s easternmost heathland pond and a so-called lobelia lake. These descriptions place the lake in different contexts: as a bathing lake within the municipality, as a heathland pond and as a lobelia lake. Swimming is possible in summer at the small designated beach. A marked 2.5 km route also runs around Skærsø, across the heath and through a jungle-like deciduous forest. The route length and the contrasting landscapes give you specific points of reference for planning. Together with the adjacent Nørremose and similarly large natural areas in the neighbouring municipalities of Vejle and Vejen, Skærsø forms a large, continuous and highly biodiverse natural area.
