Brundby can be explored through several specific themes: the history of Brundby Stubmølle, the village ponds and marked paths. When choosing a destination, you can weigh up whether you are most interested in mill history, observing nature, outdoor activities or music.

Hotels and Music in Brundby

Brundby Hotel is known as Denmark’s only RockHotel and hosts intimate concerts. The restaurant at Brundby Hotel serves classic Danish cuisine featuring local produce and, where possible, organic ingredients. This means you can enjoy both a musical offering and a clearly defined style of cooking. If you would like to include a concert in your travel plans, check the specific dates in advance.

Brundby Stubmølle and Its History

Brundby Stubmølle is a post mill and one of only 16 surviving post mills in Denmark. It is considered the oldest, or at least the second-oldest, post mill in the country. It ground its first flour at the beginning of the 17th century; in 1683, it was sold to Samsø. In 1817, it was moved to its present location on Kolhøj and erected there. It ground grain until 1939. From the mill, the view extends to Ballen. Self-guided visits are available; guided tours are offered during opening hours. Check the latest visitor information before your visit if you are planning to see the mill or join a guided tour.

Village Ponds and Nature Watching

There are three village ponds in Brundby. A small historic pond has stepping stones that let you cross without getting your feet wet and observe salamanders, insects and frogs. This nature experience offers a different focus from the history of the mill: here, the pond and the opportunity to observe wildlife take centre stage. If you like to include a range of local highlights in your travel plans, you can consider this nature experience alongside the historic sights.

Paths and Local Wayfinding

Some paths in Brundby can be used for cycling or riding; these paths are marked with symbols. Several signs in different colours point to local routes. Cycling and riding are therefore listed as options on some paths, while the signs indicate routes in the area. If you are planning one of these activities, look out for the markings on the relevant paths. The two types of information offer different guidance: the symbols mark the paths concerned, while the coloured signs point to local routes.

Other Features of the Village

Brundby was established behind protective hilltops so that it could not be seen from the sea. This historical explanation adds another perspective on the layout of the village to its individual sights. A well-preserved well stands by the road at Brundby Hovedgade 24. Brundby also has a Genforeningsplads, considered a worthwhile stop. Together with the Stubmølle, the village ponds and local routes, these offer different points to consider when choosing: mill history, nature, outdoor activities, or music and food may each be what draws you to Brundby.
