Seline – between the beach and Mala Paklenica
Accommodation in Seline
Seline lies on a broad plain between a pebble beach and Mala Paklenica Canyon. Walking, hiking, and cycling routes connect the town to Starigrad via picturesque hamlets in the mountainous hinterland. This offers different ways to plan a stay: the beach, the canyon landscape, cycling, or hiking. If you are looking for hotels in Seline, these points can help guide your choice of destination.
The beach and canyon as points of reference
RT Pisak is a partially developed pebble beach in Starigrad and Seline. A paved road leads to the beach; local road conditions may change. Check access before your visit if it is important to your plans. Mala Paklenica Canyon is known for its wilderness and unspoiled nature. The Mala Paklenica stream is 12.5 km long. The Church of St. James (Sv. Jakova) stands above the canyon; in Mala Paklenica, the stone dam of one of the old mills has also been preserved.
National park and routes
Entrance 2 to Paklenica National Park is located before Mala Paklenica Canyon. Tickets purchased there are also valid for Entrance 1; the reception is open only during the main season. The national park recommends Entrance 2 exclusively for experienced hikers. Check seasonal access before your trip.
The Staza Br. 1 STARIGRAD–RELJANI cycling route is designated as a one-way route. It runs downhill from Jusupi to the center of Seline and Pisak Beach. In the foothills of the Velebit, it passes through picturesque villages with traditional stone architecture and numerous cultural and historical sites; along the way, there are views of the mountains and sea. Local trail conditions may change, so check them before setting off. A different kind of planning is needed for the Mala Paklenica (Seline) – Njive Lekine – Grabove Doline – Anića Luka – Velika Paklenica hiking route, which takes about six hours. These are two distinct options: a designated one-way cycling route to Seline and Pisak, and a multi-hour hike with several stops.
