Drinovci: Nature, Trails and Cultural Heritage
Accommodation in Drinovci
Drinovci lies partly within Krka National Park; the park map lists 122 hectares of the settlement within the park. There are also trails of varying lengths with viewpoints, an early 18th-century church, and recurring cultural events. When planning your trip, you can therefore choose how to balance scenery, cultural heritage and local traditions.
Scenery and nearby destinations
The area around Drinovci also offers a range of nature and cultural experiences. At Roški slap, restored mills, pounding mills and fulling mills have been preserved and are considered ethnological and ethnographic monuments. The Franciscan Monastery of Our Lady of Mercy is located on the island of Visovac. Its museum collection includes four incunabula. The sites have distinct characters: at Roški slap, the focus is on preserved milling facilities, while on Visovac it is the monastery and its collection.
The nearby Stinice–Roški slap–Oziđana pećina educational trail is 8.5 kilometres long and follows the Krka Canyon. Along the way, there are views of Visovac and the cascades of Roški slap. Its scenery and viewpoints distinguish this trail from the shorter routes.
Hiking trails and their features
The Bačići Trail is 1,800 metres long. It starts in the hamlet of Bačići in Drinovci and leads to views of Visovac. It also passes through the dry-stone walls of Miljevci. The traditional dry-stone walling technique was added to UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2018. The route thus combines scenery with a tangible example of traditional building techniques. Local conditions may change; check them before your visit.
The lengths of two trails are similar: the Bačići Trail is 1,800 metres long, while the nearby Ključica Trail is about 1.7 kilometres long. The Ključica Trail leads from Ključ on the Miljevci plateau through natural scenery to views of Ključica Fortress, Lake Torak and the confluence of the Čikola and Krka rivers. The destinations described give each route a different scenic focus.
The Torak Route offers a different perspective: it descends into the Čikola Canyon and provides views of Ključica Fortress and Torak. Its starting point is at the cemetery and school in Drinovci; from there, it heads towards the hamlet of Ključ. If you plan to travel the route, check the ground and water conditions beforehand.
Church, events and traditions
Drinovci is home to the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, built in the early 18th century. Recurring events also shape the cultural life of the area. The ojkavice festival is a regular cultural event. The town’s 2026 programme listed its 13th edition at the branch school in Drinovci.
Miljevačke užance is another recurring cultural event, organised by KUU Miljevci and held in Drinovci. The programme includes Miljevci dances and the singing styles ojkalica and treskavica. Dates and venues may vary from one edition to another; check the relevant announcement when planning a specific visit.
ETNO Skelin, at Skelini 1 in Drinovci, is listed as a wine-tasting venue. Along with the trails, church and cultural events, it adds another point of interest to consider when choosing what to explore on a trip to Drinovci.
