Discover Čabrunići
Accommodation in Čabrunići
Čabrunići brings together the story of Blessed Miroslav Bulešić and well-preserved traditional rural architecture. Two specific themes shape the way visitors see the place: Bulešić’s biography and the traditional building styles, with their stone houses, outbuildings and kažuni. The wider destination of Općina Svetvinčenat also offers cultural and cycling experiences.
Miroslav Bulešić and the chapel
Blessed Miroslav Bulešić was born in Čabrunići on 13 May 1920. During his seminary and theology studies, he returned to Čabrunići during the holidays. His birth story is therefore directly connected with the place and offers a distinct way to explore its past.
The chapel near his birthplace is dedicated to Blessed Miroslav Bulešić. It was blessed on 23 August and built with donations from local residents and Bulešić’s admirers. The Mass marking his birth anniversary is also connected with this story: it is held in the square in front of the chapel. If you would like to travel for the occasion, check the specific arrangements in advance.
Traditional rural architecture
Another defining feature of Čabrunići is its well-preserved rural buildings. These include stone houses and outbuildings enclosed by high walls, as well as numerous surviving kažuni. The houses, outbuildings and kažuni illustrate different forms of traditional building culture. Alongside Bulešić’s story, the village’s architectural heritage is also central to its character.

At Stancija Čabrunići, Čabrunići 70, leisure activities include hiking and cycling. Check the current conditions for these activities before your visit.
The wider destination of Općina Svetvinčenat also offers a broader setting: the landscape around Čabrunići, Cukrići and Juršići is gently rolling and characterised by Mediterranean vegetation. Agricultural land, vineyards and olive groves are part of the landscape, as are boundaries marked by dry-stone walls or vegetation. This landscape character refers to the wider area and should be distinguished from the village itself.
Culture in Općina Svetvinčenat
Another cultural and historical highlight in the wider destination of Općina Svetvinčenat is Morosini-Grimani Castle. Its history is presented through nine different multimedia exhibits, offering an interactive journey through Svetvinčenat’s past. It is also considered one of the best-preserved examples of Venetian architecture in Istria and beyond. The combination of historic architecture and multimedia storytelling complements the story of Bulešić and Čabrunići’s rural architecture with a different historical perspective.
Svetvinčenat’s square, known locally as Placa, has largely retained its authentic Renaissance appearance. The churches also offer different historical perspectives: the Church of St Vincent dates back to the 12th century, while the 14th-century Church of St Catherine is decorated with frescoes from the early 15th century.
