Rabac is an Adriatic resort on the eastern side of the Istrian peninsula. Historic Labin lies above the town. When searching for hotels, Rabac is the specific coastal town; Labin provides an additional historical point of reference in the description of the area. Rabac is also distinguished by its rich Mediterranean vegetation.

Beach profiles in Rabac

Maslinica is a 500-metre-long pebble beach. It offers water sports and a designated area for people with disabilities. If you are comparing beaches by their specific features, Maslinica therefore provides clear information about its length and surface, as well as details about activities and a specially equipped area.

Girandella Beach is also pebbly, but additionally has rocky and paved sections. Cycling and walking are possible along the seaside promenade at Girandella. In 2026, the beach was included on Istria’s list of excellent beaches. If you are travelling in a later year, check the award status for that period again.

Lanterna Beach is reached via footpaths through a wooded area. During the day, there is a lifeguard service watching over swimmers. The beaches mentioned therefore differ not only in their surface: Maslinica stands out, among other things, for its water sports and designated area; Girandella also offers activities along the promenade; and Lanterna features a route through the wooded area and daytime beach service.

Local history and seasonal dates

Until the middle of the 19th century, Rabac was a small fishing village with barely ten houses. The town’s first hotel, Quarnaro, opened on 11 June 1889. These details place Rabac’s history in the 19th century and provide a precisely dated historical reference point for the local hotel industry. For travellers interested in the history of a destination, this background adds a local perspective to the coastal and beach themes.

The 2026 calendar year included two seasonal Thursday events. The Istrian Lifestyle Handmade and Gourmet Fair took place every Thursday on the Rabac waterfront from 18 June to 10 September. The seasonal Rabac by Night programme ran on Thursdays from 2 July to 27 August; the guided tour was offered in English, German, Italian, Croatian and Czech. Both events fell on a Thursday, but in 2026 the fair ran for a longer period than the tour programme. If you are travelling in a later year, check the dates and languages announced for that year; the periods stated here refer to 2026.
