Bubani offers several specific points of interest for planning a trip: an MTB loop, St. Martin's Church, wine, and local events. This lets you get to know the village from different perspectives. The most prominent features are the cycling route that passes through Bubani and the church on the hill of the same name next to the village. Also associated with Bubani are the Bubanska fešta and the wine producer Vina Sosich.

Cycling through Bubani and the surrounding area

Official MTB Trail 274, “Pedalling Along the 45th Parallel,” passes through Bubani. Its circular route is 18.7 kilometres long and has a moderate difficulty level. It is suitable for mountain bikes, trekking bikes and e-bikes. This gives you specific information about the route’s length, difficulty and suitable bike types—useful points of comparison when considering a cycling trip as part of your travel plans. Trail conditions may change seasonally; check them before setting out.

Cycling routes in the wider destination of Općina Kanfanar

Općina Kanfanar lies in the heart of the Istrian peninsula, where green and blue Istria meet. Visitors can explore the area’s natural and cultural heritage on cycling routes. Another route there is “Captain Morgan and the Ghost Town”: it is 23.8 kilometres long, of moderate difficulty, and starts and ends in Kanfanar. It passes through the Limska Draga valley and Dvigrad.

In terms of length, this loop is 5.1 kilometres longer than Trail 274; both are of moderate difficulty. The routes also differ in their described itineraries: Trail 274 passes through Bubani, while “Captain Morgan and the Ghost Town” starts and ends in Kanfanar. This makes it possible to choose between a loop through Bubani and another route in the wider destination without treating the two routes as a single connected trail.

St. Martin's Church and views from the hill

St. Martin's Church stands on the hill of the same name next to Bubani. It is a single-nave church with a bell gable for one bell. It acquired its present appearance during restoration in 1879. The building's design and the restoration year offer a specific insight into the history of the structure: the year refers to the restoration that gave it its current appearance.

Views from the hill are also associated with Sveti Martin. From there, you can see nearby settlements, the Adriatic Sea and Mount UÄŤka. At St. Martin's, two distinct aspects come together: the church's architectural form and views across the landscape. Visitors interested in church architecture will find a specific point of interest here, as will travellers who want to discover the landscape around Bubani.

Wine and local events

Vina Sosich is a wine producer in Bubani. The name is associated with the varieties Malvasia, Teran, Merlot, Muscat, Chardonnay and Merlot rosé. The selection may change. If you are planning a visit, check the current visiting arrangements and available varieties in advance.

The Bubanska fešta is a traditional village festival associated with Bubani and the month of August. One edition, held on 3 August, included a bocce tournament followed by evening entertainment with food and drinks. The programme and dates may vary, so check the latest event information if you are thinking of including the festival in your travel plans.

Another dated event was a KriĹľni put procession: it began in Bubani on 2 March 2024 and climbed Sveti Martin hill. The Stations of the Cross and a rosary were part of the procession. Hot tea and biscuits were served on the lawn in front of St. Martin's Church on this occasion. These details relate to the procession on that date; check current event dates when planning your trip.
