Wine and Landscape
Stari Horvat Winery has been operating in Celine since 1936. A wine tasting with a mini-kitchen in an authentic setting is available on request; please inquire before visiting. Stari Horvat is located in the hamlet of Celine, now Vintervec, on a southwest-facing slope. From there, the distant views extend as far as Zagreb and Mount Medvednica. Street Art and the Chapel
As part of the VREVA project, a retaining wall in the settlement of Celine in Vrbovec was painted with 21 contemporary illustrations in 2024. The images draw on Anita Kos’s story “Ježeva kućica.” Visitors interested in art and literature will find a concrete connection here between a work in public space and a named literary source.
In Celine, the newly built Chapel of St. Mary, Mother of God of the Way (sv. Marije Majke Božje Putne) stands on the site of an older chapel. The chapel thus connects a contemporary building with the area’s religious history.
Routes at Events
Routes at three events passed through Celine; they differed in purpose and course. The route of the 2024 CRO Race passed through Celine in the direction of Rakovec and Sveti Ivan Zelina. In the 2025 Vrbovečka biciklijada, the route ran from Gaj via Celine to Cerje. This edition was a 27-kilometer family ride for all generations, with refreshments along the route. The years identify the two cycling routes as belonging to specific editions; if you plan to attend a future event, check its dates and routes. At the Vrbovečko projahivanje, the procession route went via Gaj to Celine and back to Sajmište in Vrbovec. Each example highlights a different type of event: a road race, a family ride, and a procession.
