Raduč – Nature, Hiking Trails and History
Accommodation in Raduč
Raduč brings together river and spring sites, hiking opportunities and historical connections. When planning your trip, it is worth distinguishing between a marked hiking route, a guided hike along unmarked trails and seasonal farm offerings. Archaeological traces and the history of the Orthodox church add to the topics you may want to consider for your stay.
Springs and the River in Raduč
The River Ričica rises in Raduč at 595 metres above sea level. The permanent spring complex Studena vrela is also located in the area. If you are interested in waterways, Raduč offers both the source of a river and a permanent spring complex as distinct natural features.
Hiking Trails and Forest Road
The Raduč–Bunovac–Malovan route is one of the three marked hiking trails listed for the Municipality of Lovinac. Trail conditions depend on the weather, so take the current weather into account when planning. An 11-kilometre forest road to Bunovac starts in Raduč. Check the road conditions and access locally before travelling.
The Guided Nikola Tesla Path
The guided “Nikola Tesla Path” follows routes associated with Tesla’s childhood visits to the village. The programme includes a hike through Teslina Kosa, Obljaj, Okić and Dobrića Kosa, a tasting at a farm, a stop by a campfire and a meal featuring local dishes. The hike follows unmarked forest roads and tracks; two guides accompany each group. Suitable clothing and footwear are required, and you must register in advance.
Farm Visits and Raspberry Products
OPG Naša Farma offers truffle hunting in the forest with trained dogs, followed by tastings of farm products. Truffle hunting depends on the season and weather and must be arranged in advance. Visits to OPG Naša Farma in Raduč are available by prior arrangement only.
The farm in Raduč specialises in organic raspberry cultivation. Its Lika Quality products include fresh raspberries, raspberry jam, raspberry syrup and raspberry fruit spread. Availability may vary depending on the season. When planning, you can therefore distinguish between an arranged forest experience and seasonal farm products.
Archaeological Traces and Local History
Pottery fragments indicate that Kalinića obljaj in Raduč was inhabited during the Late Bronze Age. The Orthodox church in Raduč is associated with the baptism of Milutin Tesla. After Operation Storm, it was among the first local sites to be restored. Radučka Gradina is considered a ruin; only traces of its walls remain. Together, these places offer insights into different periods in Raduč’s history.
