The Municipality of Donji Lapac offers several clearly distinct points of interest for planning a trip: the Una and its landscape, named opportunities for cycling and hiking, and buildings with various historical dates. When choosing a hotel, you can first consider which of these themes you would like to focus on during your stay. Information about places and landscapes can help you choose your destination; make your specific hotel choice based on the details of each offer.

The Una and the landscape

The Una flows through the municipal area of Donji Lapac and offers opportunities for sport fishing. It is rich in native and American rainbow trout. This makes the river not only a notable landscape feature, but also the setting for a specifically named activity.

Other landscape features can be identified by their names and approximate size. Lapačko polje lies within the municipality and covers about 1,000 hectares. The Bijeli Potoci–Kamensko area is in the central part of the PljeÅ”evica massif, at an elevation of about 900 to 1,300 metres. At Å trbački buk, near Donji Å trbci, there are several waterfalls; the largest is 25 metres high. The polje, mountainous area and waterfalls offer different points of reference if you want to include nature and scenery in your trip plans.

Cycling routes and excursions

Two routes with different points of reference are described for mountain bikers. MTB route MTB 01 is 29.5 kilometres long and starts and ends in Donji Lapac. MTB 03 runs from Donji Lapac to Ozeblin, via Manita draga, and then back to Donji Lapac. This lets you compare a route with a stated distance to one whose course is marked by named waypoints.

There is also a named option on foot: the Kamensko plateau in the PljeŔevica Mountains offers opportunities for mountain hiking and excursions. When planning, you can consider this hiking option and the two MTB routes as different ways to explore the landscape. The stated route details do not include walking or cycling times.

Building history across several places

The churches and the old Hotel Ozeblin provide different points of reference for local history. In Nebljusi, the Church of St Elias was built in 1795 and restored in 1964 and 2003. The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Lički Doljani was built in 1799; its bell tower was added in 1912. The old Hotel Ozeblin was built in the centre of Donji Lapac that same year. It is considered a rare, fully preserved building in the Secessionist style in Lika.

Another historical site is Boričevac: the parish church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built in 1844, is designated as sacred cultural heritage and was destroyed during the Second World War. The dates and events distinguish the buildings’ histories without reducing them to a single era. Together, they represent both religious architecture and a preserved secular building.

Getting here and finding a hotel

Two connections are named for road navigation. State road D218 runs from Doljani through Donji Lapac to the Užljebić border crossing into Bosnia and Herzegovina. State road D506 connects Bjelopolje with Donji Lapac. Check current road conditions before setting off.
