In Krapinske Toplice, a walking loop around the town, historic chapels and churches, a digital collection on local history, and a wellness program come together. The topics range from walking directions and architectural history to specific treatments and swimming in the pool.

Trails and Landscape

The Toplički pješački prsten is a marked network of walking trails that encircles Krapinske Toplice. At trail junctions, signs indicate the difficulty level and the average walking time from the town center. This information answers different planning questions: the difficulty level classifies the route, while the walking time gives an average duration from the center.

The Chestnut Avenue is a footpath between the center and Klokovec and is used by visitors. It is part of the Toplice Pedestrian Ring. This makes it possible to distinguish a specific connection between two places from the loop that encircles Krapinske Toplice.

The Zašat park forest extends to the Chapel of St. Mary Magdalene and was part of the spa’s spatial design. It needs revitalization.

Chapels, Church and Local History

The Chapel of St. Mary Magdalene stands on Zašat Hill, east of the town center. It was built in 1874 on the site of an older wooden chapel. Archaeological finds on Zašat point to a prehistoric hilltop settlement, provisionally dated to the Late Bronze Age, around 1200 to 800 BC. Thus, a datable 19th-century building and evidence of a much older settlement, whose dating is still provisional, are found side by side.

The octagonal Chapel of St. Nicholas was built in the first half of the 19th century and extensively restored in 2007. The Parish Church of the Holy Trinity was built between 1829 and 1832. Its organs were made in 1860 by Leonard Ebner of Maribor and follow a Czech-German Romantic organ-building tradition.
