Bol brings together coastal scenery, hiking destinations and a historic town center by the harbor. Zlatni Rat lies west of the town; Vidova Gora rises above Bol. Museums, events and water sports add to the ways you can tailor your stay to different interests.

Coast and water sports

Zlatni Rat is a pebbly spit almost half a kilometer long, west of Bol. Its tip is continually reshaped by winds and sea currents. The waters around Zlatni Rat offer a range of activities, including kayaking, pedal boating, water skiing, parasailing and guided diving courses. Offers and operators may vary seasonally.

Windsurfing is also part of Bol’s sports offering. Four windsurfing centers offer equipment rental and storage, as well as windsurfing schools for beginners and advanced surfers. The centers and their services may change seasonally.

Hiking between Bol and Vidova Gora

Vidova Gora lies above Bol and reaches an elevation of 778 meters. It can be reached by a paved road or hiking trails; from there, you can enjoy a view of Zlatni Rat. This combines a striking coastal view with a higher vantage point in the island’s interior.

Trail 767 Bol begins in the center of Bol, passes the Dominican Monastery and follows a gravel path through olive groves. The route returns to town along the old road before passing Zlatni Rat beach.

Trail 768 Bol – Vidova Gora – Bol also starts in the center. It passes Zlatni Rat and Murvica on its way to Vidova Gora, then returns to Bol. The described stops offer a clear distinction when choosing between the two routes: Trail 767 passes through olive groves and by the beach, while Trail 768 includes Murvica and Vidova Gora.

Historic town center, monastery and art

Bol’s historic center is clustered around the harbor. Its buildings include a Baroque summer residence, the Loža and its church, the parish church and Kaštil. Stone lanes and traditional architectural styles shape the townscape. This puts the town’s architecture and history alongside its coast in the spotlight.

The Dominican Monastery was founded in the 15th century and served as an important spiritual and cultural center of BraÄŤ for centuries. The monastery museum displays Adriatic amphorae and archaeological finds, Venetian works of art, liturgical objects and Glagolitic books. The presentation may change; check current access information and exhibition details before visiting.

Culture throughout the year

Bolsko lito runs from June to October. The 2026 program includes the weekly Bolska litnja noć, classical concerts at the Dominican Monastery and summer exhibitions at the gallery of the Bol Cultural Center. The program varies by season; check event dates for your trip.

Another traditional event in Bol is Bolsko Lignjadura. It combines a competition with food and live music. Annual dates may change, so it is worth checking the dates for your travel year.
